I often criticize Messi for the perceived lack of off the ball movement, interest, motivation etc. but those people who went as far as calling him a fraud are just stupid and pathetic. Not even the best players can consistently deliver on all occasions, be it Messi or Ronaldo or Pele or Maradona. That went toooo far.

perception about him is not the same anymore, we are barca fan, we see every single match so we know that he has some excuses, neutral people doesn't give a fuck of that, i read tons of people in the last hours say that he's a fraud and only capable to make difference in CL with dominant teams, this is the narrative is starting after all these failures. Exactly where are the other players stepping up. How is Messi supposed to have a good game when our midfield couldn't even keep the ball to supply him. This is not an individual sport and the team and valverdes tactics let him down big time. Messi is the main reason Barca are top of the league and the main reason they got past chelsea. But in those important games he was helped by a team that was able to keep the ball and me supply him unlike the other night where it was shocking how bad they were at keeping the ball in the Roma half

Just as you said 5 years ago Messi was better, if we look 5 years into the future it might all turn back in Messi’s favor.

But to answer your question, if Madrid miraculously end up not winning the CL then it all goes back in Messi favor, he might even end up winning the balon d’or.

totally agree, Messi is also younger than Ronaldo so its possible he wins a few more Ballon d'ors. I dont see any team left stopping this Madrid so its world cup or bust for Leo.

Yeah, Messi has not been good enough in the CL KO stages for a while. In the past 5 seasons Messi scored 2 goals from the quarter finals onwards while Ronaldo scored 20. Make it 3 goals in 6 seasons. He scored 1 goal against PSG in 12/13, 2 goals against Bayern in 14/15. horrible record and this is why he has been losing the BO to Ronaldo. Ronaldo has 25 goals if you consider 6 seasons. And this season is not over yet. Even this round is not over yet for him. I'd say 30 is in reach. 30 goals vs 3 goals smh need I say more? CL is the highest level.

Messi needs to awaken or Ronaldo is going to be considered the better player when all is said and done.

Ronaldo isn't just a goalscorer smh he is the most complete player the football world has ever seen. He scores all kinds of goals and creates space and chances for his teammates with his movement which is second to none btw. People say he always scores tap ins, its because he is always in the right position to score them because his off the ball movement is excellent. Also he has like 215+ assists which is not bad at all.

Messi had 12 chances/attempts over the two legs and didnt look like scoring.

Ronaldo has been the better player in CL in recent seasons any other argument is just based on what you perceive Messi as being able to do and not what he has delivered.

Messi is better domestically and when he plays likes of Atletico and Real but in crunch CL games he and team have been posted missing too often in past 5 years.

Shut up about Ronaldo vs. Messi. I am far more concerned about the future of our club currently. If we don't sack Valverde until the beginning of the 18/19 season and get some reinforcements on the field (especially in the midfield and attack/wings), the future of our club, especially in Europe is not bright once this magician retires.

Also physically, Ronaldo is a freak lets be honest here. He is one of the greatest athletes sports has ever seen, let alone football. What he is doing at 33 years of age is nothing short of ridiculous and unheard of.
