Like it or not, Ronaldo had completely smashed the whole GOAT debate, he will always be seen as greater than Messi by non barca fans. I don't see Messi doing much against Croatia, they'll hound him out of the game, get 3 or 4 players on him every time make it difficult for him. Could do something against Nigeria but will probably be all over by then.

From 4-1 down to 6-5, how Tf has that happened.

Unless Argentina wins the WC, it'll be another Ballon D'or for Ronaldo and probably deserved this time

Why deserved? His game is centered on being on the end of a move and tapping it in or scoring penalties. I'm not saying those things aren't vital (they are), but he's not even top 50 all time in terms of dribbling, technique and passing/creating. Ronaldo has become a more limited player these days than he ever was. Suddenly he should be winning the Ballon d'Ors? Imagine someone else scoring those goals, without the name Ronaldo. The comparison to Messi can only come with similar level of skills, and only then you can differentiate by stats etc. I think people are also blinded by the success of Real Madrid in the CL and Portugal fluking the Euros.

Why do you people care about such things? There will never, ever be a consensus regarding GOAT issue. Never. You can jugle with trophies, goals and other stats, but in the end
it s all about personal percepcion. To me 2 seasons of Ronaldinho s top football was worth more, than whole career of CR7 football.

It s about personal taste, so why worry about what other people think? You can t control it.

Buffon is a bad dribbler.
Defenders also.

But still, they are quite valuable for their teams in what they are doing on a field.
Is dribbling a standard in valuing a player now?

Adama and Halilovic are then better players than CR7, right? They have better dribbles and technique. They are maybe even more creative.

Apparently the Ronaldo celebration for his first goal against Spain where he rubbed his chin was a dig at Messi posing with a goat. How true is this.

Dribbling is one of the important skills for attacking players. Along with passing, technique, finishing, movement, reading the game etc. These skills need to be looked at in the debate for greatest of all time, or when looking at any player. You need to see the skillset a player has and compare the total package. Ronaldo is an incredible finisher, has insane off the ball movement etc nowadays. He used to be a much better dribbler and creator though. The fact that someone is better at dribbling, doesn't mean that he's better overall of course. In the all time great debate, I would compare each skill to the best ever. In regards to dribbling, I would say top 3 could be something like Messi, Maradona and R9 (at their peak dribbling). Ronaldo at his best is far behind that. But maybe he's top 3 in finishing or off the ball movement. Technique? Not top 50. Etc etc.

There are many players with insane technical abilities who fail to showcase them because they are not good enough mentally. Heck, there are tons of them who even fail to become professional football players. Think you are overestimating the technical side of the game compared to the mental one. Technical ability does not mean shit if you can't show it in the game.

Everything is viewed through what you show on the field. Technical ability as showcased ON the field, of course.

Calm down guys...there it.s still time for Messi to show up. 2 games only in group stage.
He needs to step up and I.ll think he will do it tomorrow with a double. Croatia is solid, but not that great.
They must be more efficient in front and they will win.

I accepted that Portugal is going to win the world cup or at least get to the Semi's. It'll hurt a lot less when it does happen.
