Yes, it was a straight red and he missed the games against Denmark and Paraguay because of that.

Zidane 98 was a fluke. He did fuck all before the final. And got saved by Thuram big time. His goals came out of nowhere and along with it marketing hyped him into being great that tournament.

Zidane was great later for France but during 98 he just had his monents.
Going into the semi’s who was the tournaments best player? You could have made a better case for Bergkam than Zidane. Not to even mention Ronaldo or Suker. Ronaldo had that forces narrative marketing great players have but I always felt suker had a better 98 tournament. Netherlands vs Croatia should have been the final back then.
Just goes to show how easy it is to switch something in hindsight to push a certain narrative.

I didn't say Zidane was beasting it back in 1998, was just replying to a question. In 2006 it was something else though.

Calm down, banega is good, but messi needs to link with dybala, im not a fan of dybala but its obvious. Di maria is a efin disgrace, but he is made for unexpected moments. I think that dybala, higuain and messi are the perfect lineup for their attack. Obvious chemistry between juve players and messi(the most intelligent player of our time) means quick link up play with higuain in third role, not second to messi. Dybala needs to step up if they are to win something

Agree, but he has to be put on the pitch first. Shithole Sampaoli won't even play him from the bench, much less give him a (deserved) starting spot.

But France's left back could have a field day going forward if Messi plays right wing. I think Argentina should definitely use 433 but I can't decide if Messi should be right wing or false 9

I agree with that, but Enzo Perez played most of the time at right mid. If he's starting against France, then he should be the guy to cover that area. Also Messi himself needs to defend, he showed today that he can.

Ya he looks pretty damn good. Dragging them to world cup finals and copa finals and world cups

They had solid teams then and he never 'dragged' Argentina to those finals anyway. He was the best player but needed his team mates like all top players ever have.
