Poor Messi. He won't probably win another UCL until he retires
So he’s going to win the CL when he retires?

He's wasting his precious final years here, if he decided he wanted to go he'd be free too, anyone objecting to it will get shot on site.

Yeah to be completely fair,Barca was more or less the best team in Europe or at least top 3 from 2008 to 2016 and Leo got to play along with Xavi and Iniesta, among many others.
In many of those seasons, we had better teams over much of the season but just underperformed when it really counted in March-April.
For example, we beat or at least draw Atletico every time in league/CDR but of course save our only defeats for the CL. Even in 2017, our team was more than good enough not to get destroyed by a Juventus side with Mandzukic, Cuadrado, and Khedira as midfield starters.
2013 was the only year since 2008 where I think we were knocked out by a team who was genuinely better than us.
We were not top 3 in the world in atleast 4 of the last 10 years. consistency in la liga and beating madrid H2H there every season is a different story than dominance in CL.
I'll say the one thing Messi never had is a true World Class manager since Pep. Tito wasn't our manager long enough and Lucho is debatable. Valverde lol.
A top class manager can lift the team and make it perform at their true potential or even exceed expectations and their level.
We're winning in spite of Valverde and almost won in spite of Tata too.
