hes actually becoming UNDERRATED. people are so used to him producing this magic it doesn't even suprise people anymore. Ballon d'or can now be declared a worthless sham if this man isn't in the top 3

He's wasting his precious final years here, if he decided he wanted to go he'd be free too, anyone objecting to it will get shot on site.

its a sad state of afairs right now.. we have the greatest player ever to touch a football, we let Madrid win 3 CLs in a row and we play like we did yesterday vs PSV.. shocking

Yes and no. I dont give a fuck what he could achieve with some other club, he showed more by staying. He's the goat, our goat. And now captain. Totti, puyol, maldini, giggs and messi above them all. I would follow this man if he plays in sunday league every week. He's ours, dude, he's barca.

It's always embarrassing when people claim that playing for Barcelona has held Messi back. Every season from 2008-2016, there was never a club in the world he would have been as good at as Barcelona. And even right now, the only team I think he would do better in his Manchester City.

Yeah to be completely fair,Barca was more or less the best team in Europe or at least top 3 from 2008 to 2016 and Leo got to play along with Xavi and Iniesta, among many others.

2008-09 - best team in the world by far
2009-10 - best team in the world
2010-11 - best team in the world by far
2011-12 - best team in the world/ joint best with madrid
2012-13 - 4th best in the world, maybe lower. Bayern, real, dortmund clearly better; juve, man united, man city debatable
2013-14 - 4th best in the world, maybe lower. Real, atletico, bayern clearly better; chelsea debatable
2014-15 - best team in the world by far
2015-16 - second/third best team in the world; bayern and atletico were best IMO
2016-17 - not top 4 IMO; real, bayern, juve all better; city, PSG, atletico debatable
2017-18 - 4th best in the world; Real, City, Liverpool better; Bayern debatable
2018-19 - looking like top 3 along with juve and city, but only because madrid and bayern have fallen off a cliff

So, Leo's had some tremendous teams and some bad teams (in terms of CL winning chances). Not to mention we don't know how to shithouse our way to wins like atletico or juve so if our team isn't dominant, we don't get very far and even get tossed out versus the likes of Roma (or PSG nearly in 12/13 and 16/17).

In many of those seasons, we had better teams over much of the season but just underperformed when it really counted in March-April.

For example, we beat or at least draw Atletico every time in league/CDR but of course save our only defeats for the CL. Even in 2017, our team was more than good enough not to get destroyed by a Juventus side with Mandzukic, Cuadrado, and Khedira as midfield starters.

2013 was the only year since 2008 where I think we were knocked out by a team who was genuinely better than us.

We were not top 3 in the world in atleast 4 of the last 10 years. consistency in la liga and beating madrid H2H there every season is a different story than dominance in CL.

If you value all parts of the season equally, then we would have been the best in 15/16, 2nd in 12/13, and definitely top 3 17/18.

Your rankings seem a bit biased against us imo. For example, how could it be debatable that City were better than us in 12/13 when they finished on like 75 points and got knocked out in the CL group stages? Also, Madrid were not "clearly better" given that we finished 15+ points ahead and they won nothing.

I'll say the one thing Messi never had is a true World Class manager since Pep. Tito wasn't our manager long enough, and Roura was awful and admitted he was crumbling under pressure. Lucho is debatable. Valverde lol.

A top class manager can lift the team and make it perform at their true potential or even exceed expectations and their level.

We're winning in spite of Valverde and almost won in spite of Tata too. Once someone like Messi is gone they need to hire better managers.

Lucho is bang average. The only good tactial move from his time here was swapping the positions of Messi and Suarez in late 2014, but they even decided that on their own without him.

I would genuinely take Valverde over Lucho.
