C. Ronaldo, at least to me, is not even in the competition when Messi and Maradona are talked about. Other than RM, Man Utd, Sporting and Portugal fanboys, I doubt that anyone truly believes that C. Ronaldo is a better player than Messi.

However it is a bit of a surprise that SAF is saying that as C. Ronaldo was his "boy" and "invention" and as far as I recall he has always claimed that C. Ronaldo was the better player. Not anymore apparently. That is actually quite telling.

That's why I asked. I didn't see him saying Messi is better than Ronaldo.

Not that I care about Messi vs Ronaldo debates/comparisions that so many people are still obssessed about, I'm actually getting tired of them but I'm interested in SAF's opinion.

Well, I only read the thread title of that article so I was of the impression that SAF had said that indeed when reading your comments. Now it makes more sense. Yes, there is no mention of C. Ronaldo in the article but if I should make a guess, SAF will probably not change his views in regards to C. Ronaldo. Not that I care as SAF is biased here for obvious reasons and Messi is obviously the better player. You only need a pair of eyes and a bit of football knowledge to understand this fact.

Of course he's biased and it won't change my respect for SAF and everything he's done for football (though I've never liked United but I've always respected them as a club which can't be said now after Moyes and especially Mourinho's time there) even if his public opinion will stay on his former protege's side though I think deep in his heart even SAF can't deny the truth.

Reminds me of this interview with Fergie after the CL final in 2011:

Reporter: "Which of Barca's players would you sign if given a blank check"

Fergie: "That's one of the stupidest questions i've heard in my life"

.......

Fergie: "Mascherano"

Sad thing is, that Real and United-fanboys makes up a hell of a lot of the worlds football-fanboys, tbh.
But I agree. Even die-hard Real fans are turning around since his departure and acknowledge Messi as best all along.

Football evolved on many ways last 15 years, and just to think that most famous bus driver made his career on the straight game plan how to neutralize messi's(ronaldinho) presence tells everything about the game. Messi changed it, iniesta changed it, xavi changed it. In history books alongside those mentioned would be busquets and guardiola as a manager. But messi goes all the way up from exceeding everyones expectations. Messi is football, his raw talent with barcelona academy created a god particle, in every aspect of this attacking game. Its a fucking shame that he is not that much extrovert to deploy his knowledge to others, but a lot of players learn just from watching his games(pogba, de jong publicly) and the funniest thing is they are middlefielders. I think his playing style would be studied for decades after his retirement. And only then other human beings could understand what a player this humble guy is, and thats the reason why i would not skip a single game he's playing, because he is not generational talent, he's something i'm pretty sure that i wouldn't see in a lifetime.

Do you think he'll play all three games over the coming week? For me, the best option would be for him to play against Valencia and Madrid but then rest against Bilbao when Dembele returns
