As a complete player as he is right now, I still think his 10/11 was simply better. Just seen some comps from that season & he was totally unstoppable. can't be tackled when he's accelerating at full speed.

In my view, Messi may be a little slower now than 8 years ago, but has improved in the following areas:
- understanding of the game, vision
- passing, creating chances for others
- shooting with left: both more power and precision and improved freekicks
- shooting with right leg: higher precision
Overall, today's Messi is a more complete and versatile player.

Depends if he is or isn't - or if there is doubt.
A player from the 20th mid-century doesn't hold a candle to a 21th century generational talent like Messi. There isn't really that much to discuss on this matter. You could argue that Pele was the most dominant, talented etc player of all time, but he surely wasn't the best. Those 3 WC titles would never have been won in this century by him and his brazil side.

Exactly. It seems like Maradona and Pele are both very concerned about their GOAT status. Messi is that good, that they have to say bullshit about him to put them on platter again.

tbh when i saw him in the stands at WC, i kinda felt bad for him, the guy was/is a mess, thats drugs for you I guess. Hell he was once or twice not far from falling 5m down to the ground if the bodyguard hadn't kept him safe.

messi 08-12 was definitely more joyful to watch. That dribbling ability was imo his truest GOAT form, and there will come a player one day who will surpass him in the next 40 years, but his absolute peak form 10-12 in Barca, i don't know if anyone will reach that in this century. He scored 91 goals + 22 assists in 2012, that was really something else. First player to win b'dor without major trophies?
