Yes, Messi should win, but VVD is more than "one of the Liverpool star players". Together with GK Allison Becker he has turned around the previously weak Liverpool defense. He has been voted best Premier League player, and deservedly so. He definitely is Liverpool's best player. If Liverpool wins the CL final, he should be a candidate for Ballon d'Or, probably the only threat to Messi for this award.

By losing three or four times in UCL this season? Certainly, liverpool defense is the best in this current season.

I don't think it's right that by having accomplished a wall all season in EPL (only one lost the entire season), then you would draw a straight line for all competition. Two weeks ago it could be 4-0 and not 3-0. He's not better than Pique, at least in UCL. And Allison not better than MATS.

Messi is different. Domestic, he's like twice the 2nd best player, not only in goalscoring but in other things. UCL, top scorer and created many chances. In europe, another golden boot. Like i have said, just one goal or one quick eye during origi's second could turn everything upside down.

By not doing anything against Valgreen he's complicit in him staying here. I guess he enjoys his friends circle too much. Enjoy not winning another CL and staying behind Ronaldo in number of CLs won.

Before anyone cries he can't do anything, it'll take one statement from him for Valmierda to be gone.

He's to nice, almost to a fault. It'll never happen. For the same reason, contrary to what many here 've been saying, he wouldn't quit if the board in a temp state of mental clarity, sacked Valv along with his best mates.

He'd prob just consider it in a matter-of-fact way and take on the new challenge. If anything, he might even find it fun experimenting with new players.

Anyways, they all made millions and are set for life. It's not like they'd be the victims here.

What's really weird is why aren't Barto et al hungrier for the CL and why aren't they pissed at the Valv for his signature fuck-ups

I think winning in spain and making good profits is more important for Barto than winning the CL. And the only players that genuinely seemed extra motivated to win it were Vidal (always motivated but he never won the trophy) and Messi himself. Messi did what he could to get Barca as far as possible this year, even got more rest for the CL than usual.
Looked like he gave up at Anfield too but he just never was the fighter type and nobody can blame him for the loss.

Now if he really is defending Valverde together with the other seniors then they deserve nothing less than the next humiliation next season tbh. I felt bad for Messi in particular because he was so good this season and deserved to win everything but if they all love Valverdes slow, pragmatic football that much then let them continue to play like that for the rest of their careers. Their own fault if they want their safe spots more than everything else and don't care if they are remembered as the CL chokers because we all know that's what people will think of when they talk about Valverde era in some years.

Agreed with you on Vidal, he did show heart.

yeah it's a sad state of affairs. One explanation for their support is that as long as he's here, their positions won't be challenged. Also, his slow-paced anti-football is gentler on their aging limbs so this would add to their support.

What would'be been grand was if they'd taken a queue out of Iniesta's playbook and retired gracefully. Even if not for the love of Barca, what about showing some love for their pal Messi and do what's best for him by getting outta da way and letting better players in

Messi didn't give up at anfield. Himself and the whole team had Liverpool pinned back for the last few minutes trying to get a goal. He played his normal game and nothing different

Let the board decide who's the next manager, will ya.

Of course inputs should be raining.. from our own players, technical advisor, maybe even fans.. But not more than inputs. Not power. The messi decide everything is a damn myth.

We need coach that understand our phylosophy of play, and can choose players that suitable and easy in adapting to our style of play, also can identify the growth, strength and weakness of our academy players, and make them future barca skeleton. Messi is a barca player, so if a team is build based on barcelona style, triangle, the tiki taka, it is build for him. Today, we are missing the components.

Looked at highlights because i didnt want to watch another shitshow of retardo. Our man looks heartbroken, devastated. And to think that he has to go to copa america seriously makes me think that could leave some heavy damage on his motivation

In Pep's final season Barca only won the Copa Del Rey, so there's been worse seasons than this. Once the new season starts it'll be a fresh start and Leo will be better than ever

Messi is upset because of the whistles to Coutinho and Busquets against Getafe when he had asked the Camp Nou to support the team. [cadena ser]
