Mine would be a false 9 possession based.

Mats---------Bob/Semedo, Pique, Umtiti, Alba--------Arthur/Rafinha, Busi/Rakitic, Vidal---------Dembele, Messi, Coutinho

-I think Coutinho is better at LW than at LCM to have more chances for that curler of his and I think Dembele feels more comfortable on that right hand side.
-No idea how good Vidal will fit in this system, but I think Vidal can provide a physical goal threat presence to fill in the void whenever Messi eventually drops deep like Paulinho did.
-I think Arthur/Rafinha can do well on that right interior in a possession based game. We'll need to test them more to find out (its assuming Rafinha stays)

Selling the best player ever who's still playing at a high level is the most stupid thing I've heard on this forum. If the team steps up in the big games like they should have last year against Roma we will go far and Messi will be the difference like he mostly is. We lost to Roma because the midfield and defence were all over the place

The other players weren't the best ever players, Messi was, and was invisible.

It's very hard for an attacker to play well if the midfield can't get him the ball and the midfield were terrible. Also Messi wasn't fully fit in both legs

I'm getting tired of hearing people (trolls) bitch about one game last season, a game that wasn't supposed to give barça any trouble after winning the first leg 4-1.
(Still think the main reason was bad preparation and underestimating the opponent.)
Anyhow a domestic double plus all the individual achievements constitute a very succesfull season, so enough with the pointless bitching about something thats in the past.

People were calling fans spoiled, entitled brats for criticising Valverde because he still got results (never mind questioning what exactly his role was in getting those results). A lot of us were arguing that Messi was paving over some serious cracks in the foundation and that sooner or later it would crumble.

We point to the Roma game because it's the proof that we were right. The only proof that folks like you seem to understand, that is.

Bad preperation and underestimation doesn't account for a tenth of our shortcomings that day.

Roma game is no proof of any theory - Messi has always been carrying us since 2011, except for the 2014-05 when Suarez & Neymar turned up.

Complete underestimating the opponent and the coach lacking any cajones were the primary reasons behind losing the tie.

Having said that - I am not exactly saying that Valverde is some master technician without any drawbacks. However, he does have a history of making his teams play effective football, which he did even with our team in the initial part of the season
