We might be very dependent on Messi in La Liga but we had a more than comfortable enough lead in the league to rest Messi for the CL QF in both 2016 and 2018.

Really ? we lost to Madrid and then lost three matches in a row in La liga reducing the points gap from 9 to 1 . We could nil afford to rest him in La liga during that season (2016)

yep we should have rested him in both of those years (I would have seriously considered resting the MSN vs Madrid after their long travel from South America in 2016) which is why I mentioned Messi's stubborness to play a lot of games as possible. Also the coachs' lack of tact and balls didn't help that either.
