That was always the case with Robben, hahaha...

Either way, we don't need Ney to play great in 5 years or when/if Messi is retired, we need him to get his head out his ass right now! Especially if we take into account all this talk about age, he's no longer a kid, it's his third season here, so it's the perfect time for him to start acting like a man...

It's his 4th season actually

Can always sign Ousmane Dembele to replace Neymar in two seasons if the latter doesn't cut out the bad things in his game :coffee:

Neymar is not as good as he was in last year. And we can make an argument that Griezman and Bale were better. He is working for the team but he disrupts the our style when he is not playing well. I think that is the main argument against him now and it is valid. But as you said he works hard and creates many chances.

Griezman may be but Bale gets too overrated. Don't think he was better than Neymar in 2016. His Uefa nomination was a shocker

I think we can all agree, haters and fanboys, that Messi was obviously better at 25 or any other age, just because no one can be like him.

When people say that Neymar is the replacement for Messi or "the future", they are not saying he is or ever will be at Messi's level.

Those are completely different things.

That being said, you got a fair point about not having enough room (years) for Neymar being the focal point, depending on when Messi retires.

Yes, I expected Neymar to be better than he is right now at 25 and also more consistent.

He is not, unfortunately, but I really struggle to think about any other player better than him (both now and in the future) to be out LW in a trio with Messi and Suarez.

So, those who say that we can sell him and we will not miss him could start throwing names to discussion (until they have a wake up call that he is indeed the best one out there for us).

Still waiting names...

Still waiting names...

You can keep on waiting, there is no one. Some people may mention Hazard, Reus, Dybala, Griezman etc,. but none of them are actually better than Neymar. Hazard disappeared one whole season, not even about inconsistency just completely off form. Reus also has lot of inconsistent performances and his highest form is not even close Neymars. Dybala is still young and is more of a striker. Griezman also is not exactly a winger, qualifies a striker or a second striker. Lot of new names doing well but have to wait and see who will make it to the highest level until then Neymar is our best choice.

Bale's team almost stole La Liga from us in spring of 2016 (they won 10 points more than us in spring of 2016).
Bale's team won a CL, unlike our team.
Bale's crappy NT team reached semis of Euro, in a one team show (Bale's show).
Bale's individual performances for both club and country were equal or better than Neymar's (who on spring break during all 2016 for Barca). Plus, it really wasn't too hard to match Neymar's performances for Barca at 2016.

If we are discussing who is in general better player, Neymar or Bale, then Neymar probably still has some advantage.
If we are discussing only 2016, Bale is a clear winner, when we remove bias and Barca's glasses.
Our players can't be undisputed winners each year, just because they are our players (or because they have more technical talent in general).
Apart from talent, individual performances and team's performances really should be taken into an account for each year.

So, a player can't win a trophy in each season just because he has more talent in general.
With that logic, Messi should have won 13 BallonD'Ors in a row, regardless of how he plays in each season, regardless of what his team wins and regardless of what all other, less talented players, achieve in that season.
"He is the best (talent wise), and he should win it every year", well, tbh, it doesn't work that way. And that's fair.

Wouldn't waste a lot of words on this but neymar has been better individually and this is without bias.

Would say that you thinking bale has been better is actually a cause of anti-neymar bias.
