Dortmund have the right to do whatever they want.

This kid has to respect the contract he signed and BVB's negotiation demands given the scenario and how late is in the transfer window.

I'm disappointed he acted so unprofessionally without waiting to see if an agreement could be made in the negotiation.

Good. They have every reason to do so. He has a contract, they are paying him a hefty salary. Be a professional and go to the scheduled training. Let the clubs do the business. He should still make himself clear that he wants to leave but only trough his manager and agent. If it's not happening then tough fucking tities. Deliver like the talent you are and next year maybe Barca comes again for you.

On the other hand. This Dembele case is an example for the arguement FOR buyout clauses.

Here you have a transfer last season of 15m and a low(ish) wage bracket.

The player wants to move and a club is willing to offee 80-100m (lol) for him.

The selling club want atleast 140m for him (double lol).

Dembele has done nothing to suggest he is a 80m player in terms of performance, wages or previous transfer fee.

So yeah, there are two sides to ths buyout clause arguwment.

"Contrary to what Borussia says, negotiations with Barca are still intense for Dembélé transfer"

Dembélé could've easily negotiated for a buyout clause if he wanted it. He can't now hold the club accountable for something he missed out on, let alone paint himself as the victim that has to bruteforce a move away from the malicious Dortmunders.

When BVB players were being poached for years by Bayern and other clubs for cheap deals, free transfers and buyout clauses then people said BVB has defeatist mentality and have too little balls to stand up against their bullies. Now that they finally do it, it's also wrong. Or at least it is for as long as it hits my club.

True. He had all the tools to decide his future when he signed for Dortmund. He did Dortmund a favour by signing for them. He should have put some conditions, like a special clause for Barcelona if that's what he wanted. Now he's paying the price of letting his future only in Dortmund's hands.

I'd rather not sign anyone if they're gonna demand 130+ for an unproven 20 y/o kid who's only put 10 goals and 20 assists last season. This is just blackmail.
