I thought Dembele's behavior was very disappointing, but if that verbal agreement isn't bs, then I can understand his actions. Still, he should have had it written down.

What??
I clearly stated it's difficult find a release clause that can satisfy both parties, Because they're inherently risky, And can delay if not break negotiations and transfers, That's why it's easier for both parties to agree verbally, For things to move forward quickly.

You accuse me of making "The poorest excuse" you've seen, Only for you're rebuttal to be a mocking sarcastic paragraph?
What a child, How old are you?, 13?, Grow up, Then come and start posting of forums.

Yes, it's poor.
It's not diffcult to find a bloody release clause. Dembele says "I want a release clause if I sign here"

a) Dortmund says no -> Dembele says Bye.
b) Dortmund says yes -> negotiations

Club will try to keep release clause as high as possible, Dembele and agent will try to keep release clause as low as possible.

Plain. Normal. In. Football.

I don't believe the Madrid story and think it is BvB just toying with us.

Madrid going for this guy makes no sense.

It's your papers making up this story, not BVB. It sounds more like people are tryna bring this in to later say "having beaten" Madrid.

I wouldn't be surprised if Real were interested but at the moment he's not a priority.

But Catalan press has to fuel those rumors so they can make it look like we beat Real/justify the price tag we may spend on Dembele.

Catalan Press would have incentive to make up a Madrid story now because if we manage to sign him they can headline "Barca beat Madrid to sign Dembele" or some other sleazy story of beating Madrid.

The German (or BvB?) papers could use the Madrid story to leverage negotiations on behalf of BvB so that they can demand more money.

Both have incentive to run with the story, but Madrid are clearly not in for the guy this summer.

There are no rumours about Madrid in Germany. Everyone here knows that large offers underlie ad-hoc disclosure obligations. If there's an offer, then we'd know.
It's propaganda. Catalan Press is making a lot of shit up. That verbal agreement is also part of it btw, I've not seen anyone report about that in Germany.

Borussia Dortmund have tried to contact Dembélé, but he refuses to speak to any club representative. [sport via kicker]

Dembele's actions have added some unnecessary toxicity to the whole story. A first offer was rejected and an improved offer hasn't been made thus far - not like BVB has closed the door completely, so rebelling like that was premature. He wants BVB to act in his interest by letting him go, so why turn them against him? And BVB can't really be sure whether Barca haven't encouraged Dembele to go ahead with that. So I can see them take a harder stance now because they don't want to be forced to things by a 20-year-old throwing a hissy fit after having signed a 5-y contract without a release clause. Not like he'd be able to be on strike very long if he stays unless he wants to risk his WC spot.

Why do Barca take ages to make an improved bid? At this rate nobody will be signed by the end of the window.
