Why do Barca take ages to make an improved bid? At this rate nobody will be signed by the end of the window.
I understand where you're coming from, But even though it's an ugly sight. I can't recollect a memory of a player rebelled against his club and it made things more difficult, It's always the opposite.Dembele's actions have added some unnecessary toxicity to the whole story. A first offer was rejected and an improved offer hasn't been made thus far - not like BVB has closed the door completely, so rebelling like that was premature. He wants BVB to act in his interest by letting him go, so why turn them against him? And BVB can't really be sure whether Barca haven't encouraged Dembele to go ahead with that. So I can see them take a harder stance now because they don't want to be forced to things by a 20-year-old throwing a hissy fit after having signed a 5-y contract without a release clause. Not like he'd be able to be on strike very long if he stays unless he wants to risk his WC spot.

... and why wouldn't they?
Another user already stated some of the factors here:
You're not listening. He is not worth 150ME, not even close. But the market decides the value. Look at the parameters:
- Selling club is obliged to pay 25% of the fee to Rennes.
- Selling club knows Barcelona have atleast 222ME in cash.
- Selling club economically does not have to sell.
- Selling club does not want to sell.
- Selling club has no time to an ample replacement and hence requires the be extraordinarily compensated, rightfully so.
- Selling club knows other "superstar" talent Mbappe is quoted even higher figures.
- Selling club knows Barca is in desperate need to sign a replacement for Neymar
All these things drives the price up. Its the circumstances, not the player's performances, age, whatever.
Now what exactly are you blaming Dortmund here? Think of this: People are actually acting offended, that the selling club is trying to make as much money as possible in a transfer deal. Some honestly believe they have the entitled birthright to get cheap deals.
You're right. However, if I am a new Dembele right now and see how hard they try to block his move to what he sees as his career move, I would stay out of Dortmund. That being said, he should have been clever and put a release clause for a more normal sum. He probably trusted Dortmund and thought they'll let him go without asking the moon and the stars for him.
He thought they'll let him go. And they said they will. But for the right fee.
And that is not his, but Barca's concern.
... and why wouldn't they?

Yeah. Tired of this circus.
Well, the right fee seems to be a PSG type of fee. That's a problem. Barca is not an oil club.
I know for a fact they have oil money at this very moment.
