11 - Raphinha

The cheap price was only with the relegation release clause. To be honest I expected Leeds to up their price to 50m when staying up. But they are operating in an inflated market (Championship included) so they have the cost of sale and the cost of replacement. If they go shopping in France, Bundesliga or Italy for a replacement they are going to get that inflation.

So 65/75 is a joke quotation for us, but in line with how the EPL market is in their own bubble these days. Man Utd just got 60m pounds rejected for Evanilson who I have never heard talked about in that echelon before today.

The money isn't a issue we can sign him at any price he will go for.

Indeed can match these prices if think worth it.

Catching on.

As always said... Barca will have plenty to spend this summer and looks to be correct.

We should just let Arsenal pay that sum and renew Dembouz instead. Anything over 40 mil for him is ridiculous.

While I don't think we should sign Raphinha for more than 50-ish mill. max, renewing Dembele and giving him 20m per year would a huge mistake and cost us big time later.

He's not renewing unless he gets his big money. That's why he hasn't even bothered responding to our latest improved offer.

Where is our scouting department?

Raphina at this quoted price cannot be the only RW available on the market?

Technical winger in his mid 20s proven in EPL, Ligue1 and Porkchop League. Reasons why Raphinha is 1st option.

There are alternatives with lesser pedigree but the club wants guarantees right now.

In the case of Anthony, would the price be much less?

Said it before but if Ferran and Xavi feel he can operate on the right (we know Ferran himself feels most comfortable there) then an idea may be to flip the lid and broaden the targets to AMLs too.

Ajax for sure not selling Antony for less than 60-70m.

Regarding LWs dream would be Leao not renewing with Milan and trying to get him next summer when he has a year left on his deal.

I like Raphinha but dont think he particularly suits Xavis isolated winger style on the right.

Teams already double up on the wide players with five at back often and trying to cut back on left like that is not easy.

Barca need wide players that can take players on and get ball in if looking at sole CF/Lewandowski.

Raphinha with full backs that get forward.. fine. With no full backs offering runs/options and doubled up v two opposition players trying to find a cross... not sure would work all that well.

Would prefer if Xavi ditched his plan of playing with wide wingers and FBs coming inside. Not like we have prime Marcelo and Dani Alves at LB and RB.

We play boring as fuck football too with wingers hugging the touchline pumping in crosses.

Good idea.

The wide positions are looking especially precarious right now. Bit surprised were so all out for Lewa as first option when Dembele, Adama are both departing and I predict Abde will depart after a part of pre-season.

Leaves us
Depay - Best position in our setup is?
Fati - Man of Steel
Ferran - Undisputed starter, world class top 3 in the world
Abde - Needs more work
Collado - surely not an option.
Pablo Torre - 3 miracles in a row is asking a bit much (Pedri, Gavi,...?

Atleast upfront Auba has scored a dozen goals in half a season.

It's early. Man didn't even get a preseason. We'll see.

How many teams do you see playing this way and succeeding?

Most teams have their wingers come inside and be more of a goal threat and have their FBs provide the width going forward. Now some of them have FBs who can go inside when needed too which is a big plus, but they're not instructed to do that specifically.
