11 - Raphinha

I'm ignorant when it comes to players from the PL.

Are we talking about a long term starter or a squad option?

Although I like them as a club, hopefully Leeds get relegated, as he'd become an absolute bargain then. Bielsa's departure also helped for me to not care for them as much anymore. I honestly believe Raphinha is thinking the same. He is ready to leave for a bigger challenge this summer in any case. Hopefully he's ready to leave the PL, even though he's acclimated himself there perfectly and an upgrade move to a PL top dog like Liverpool would make perfect sense for him.

But being Brazilian I imagine he'd get his head turned by Barca for sure too. He's also in that perfect age range and would fit in perfectly in our transfer window in what we're trying to do with Christensen, Mazraoui and Kessie, get some more of that perfect age range in, players just approaching their prime years, so our team isn't all kids and veterans. Plus I really like that we're looking to the PL for signings, as they're used to a high tempo and physicality there, so coming to Barca they almost feel like giants and physical beasts, like Adama and Aubameyang did.

Hopefully we don't get our heads turned by Salah, even if he doesn't extend, and we snatch Raphinha quickly instead, not leave him to Liverpool to get as the Salah replacement, which is exactly what they'll do if we let them. If we wait too long, I think even the likes of Bayern could very well jump in and be ready to take him, especially since there's some doubts about Gnabry's continuity there.

Deco being his agent helps. Hopefully we get both him and Raphinha in for talks soon. Feel like we need to close the door on Dembele 100% before that though. Hopefully the club doesn't plan on waiting until the end of June and hoping Dembele comes back to the negotiation table, and only then start acting accordingly. We need to start planning now and hopefully go and tie up Raphinha well before then, in June or even May, because I think there's gonna be big interest for him come July/August, if he doesn't commit to anyone until then.

Even more so in case Leeds get relegated, which I don't think is gonna happen, but you never know. Still even if they manage to stay up, I imagine him being in a smaller, (even if it's a PL) club right now could make him a bit cheaper, maybe double the relegation release clause in that case, which would still be pretty good honestly. 50M still wouldn't be overpaying for him in my opinion.

Sadly I think Norwich, Burnley are just too bad. Even if Leeds lose all the games, I am not sure they catch up lol

Norwich are a non-factor, they are going down regardless. Watford are too weak as well. Burnley are the ones who need to get some points on the board, especially in those two games in hand. Especially now, when Leeds have just about managed to beat Norwich (94th minute winner, too bad) and get a 4 point lead on them. Everton are the only other candidate, but I think they'll manage to stay up in the end.

Kessie, Christensen, Raphinha, and Mazraoui would be a legendary window as it stands.

All of them in their mid 20's :worthy:

This.

I think with a lineup like

MATS (30*)
Mazraoui (24) - Araujo (23) - Christensen (26) - Alba (33)
FDJ (25) - Busi (34) - Pedri (19)
Raphinha (25) - Ferran (22) - Ansu (20)

we would find the right balance between veterans, players in/entering their prime years and youngsters. Although it's obvious players of similar age don't always have the same level of experience at a high level. But it's clearly a more "healthy" way to buld the team than having 6-7 (mostly over the hill) veterans and 4-5 unproven teenagers.

I think there's a difference betweem good experience and past it veterans.

Some of them are a bit past it to be at the highest level reliably.

That team somehow lacks the X Factor to be an actual European Powerhouse. This is a problem Barca haven't experienced in their recent history.
