11 - Raphinha

Is he Barca quality? I?ve never watched Leeds play.

idk about "better" here are few things about Raphinha I like that separate him from Dembele:

1. He actually utilises skills. He doesn't need to constantly sprint in order to dribble past a player, like every other NORMAL winger in the world (Neymar, Robben, Messi, Di Maria) he's got several different tools to dribble past opponents; pace, control, skills/technique, and the brain to exploit space that's not obviously open - which might make him useful against low blocks.

2. He knows how to get into goal scoring positions, and actually knows HOW TO FINISH. Leeds is 16th on the league table and Raphinha has more goals than Dembele. 10 league goals actually. A number that Dembele has never reached in his entire career.

3. Composure with the ball under pressure. Ball doesn't bounce off his feet during build up play, and he's actually pretty good with short passing.

I don't know about his quality, I don't think he's top tier but he's at the very least more well rounded than Dembele as a footballer. I think he'd offer more dimension to our right flank, something other than kick, sprint, and cross.

Very interesting profile! He sounds like someone who is of Pedro?s caliber as far as goal output is concerned. How much would be a fair price to land him? I read that he has a relatively low release clause of 30 or 35m if Leeds were to get relegated.

Checked the EPL table and Leeds getting relegated seems highly unlikely right now as Burnley, Watford and Norwich are all quite far behind Leeds. Would we pay more than 30-35m?

Raphinha goalscoring ability is definitely underrated. He would be a great signing for Barca im certain of it.

Raphinha is by no means a high volume goalscorer but under the right circumstances I can easily see him becoming a 20+ goals per season(all comps) type of winger.

He also presses and works hard off the ball like a dawg. Dembele has improved a tonne in that regard tbf to him but hasn't always had the consistency with it.

That's really optimistic mate. That would put him in the Mane/Salah category

Mane and Salah could hit 20 in just the Premier League though.

It is admittedly optimistic, but I think he has the quality for it and could be the case of a player needing that next step to really explode into becoming a World Class player. Like Mane did.

Not saying it would happen though.

I disagree with some part of this, for one I believe Dembele is a better dribbler and also creates clearer chances (you can check their stats), I watched a few of Raphinha's games this season, just 4, and saw that he also gives the ball away needlessly sometimes but a little bit better than Dembele in that aspect. They're close in speed (though Dembele edges here) and Rapinha seems more relaxed in finishing now. One interesting thing I noticed is that Dembele has a better passing ratio than Rapinha (that is comparing their last 7 seasons). I felt a fairer way to compare them would be to look at what they did in Rennes since they both played there and Raphinha played 22 league games with 5 goals and 3 assists, while Dembele played in 26 league games with 12 goals and 5 assists, so I believe Dembele is the better player right now, but time would tell.

Damn, with Burnley rising from the dead, Leeds are suddenly far from safe again. Just 4 points away from relegation. Could be that they get fully dragged into it alongside Burnley and Everton.

Especially if (so hopefully) they lose to Crystal Palace tonight. They then play City (H), Arsenal (A) and Chelsea (H), they should be losing all of them. And by then hopefully both Burnley and Everton overtake them, even though Everton also have a pretty tough schedule with facing Chelsea (H) and Leicester (A) in the next 2 games. Hopefully they get something from these two and then beat Watford away. In that case they would be ahead of Leeds before the final two games, which aren't easy as well, Brighton (H) and Brentford (A). While Burnley have pretty winnable matches in the mean time, especially since they're in great form right now.

I think if Leeds lose tonight, Burnley might very well overtake them after the next round already, when they play Watford away, and Leeds are playing City then. Can't believe Everton might actually get relegated.

But hopefully Leeds will be the ones to go. In that case we need to go in for Raphinha and activate that 25M relegation clause the very next day after the league ends, before a Liverpool or ManU come swooping in. There will be massive interest for him in that case for sure, first and foremost from the PL teams, who will take advantage of a bargain of a proven PL performer asap.

If Everton gets relegated who will buy our scrubs? Double win for us if they stay up and Leeds goes down.

25mil I'd be very happy, 50mil hmmm ok. 70mil disaster.

Don't see the world class potential in this one. A bit like Torres.

He looks good. Okay small sample. I haven't seen him play too much, just yesterday a bit.

I wish we would try to sign more players with untapped potential. Torres will never be the best.
