11 - Raphinha

Horrible performance in a horribly managed team with no game plan and no structure

On a positive note, this should get Dorival sacked and maybe better times come for his national team

Great news is no injury and, other than unexplainably pointless Dorival "pressing", probably not too tired either. Maybe could catch a few minutes on Thursday too.

And as expected the Argentine players are saying Raphinha's comments just motivated them even more and basically told him to shut up the next time and do his talking on the pitch instead.

IMO there's some nations you just don't shit talk to beforehand. Argentines, ex-Yugoslavian, Balkans countries.

These guys just take it very personally and use it to motivate themselves even more.

Didn't they use the press against them with maradona in 86? If I recall they barely qualified and the press was eating them. Rookie move by Rapha. The argentines are always extra motivated with these comments lmao.

See Messi vs Netherlands.

Does not work like that.

Argentina and Messi were hugely criticised for 15 years and won fuckall with that "motivation" until the Copa win. If anything the team was infamous for crumbling in high pressure moments.

You need a good balanced group, team sprit, star players and manager to be a good national team. Motivation isn't enough on its own. With this Scaloni team, they have finally struck the right balance. They're levels above current Brazil and would win today either way.

I feel it was more of talking more than one's ability. There is just how little thumping up your chest can do for you when you had a pebble for a weapon in battle that required a sword. There will always be one outcome.....your head being on the menu for dinner. This current Brazilian team is not only mediocre in quality/depth but poorly coached too. A disastrous combination. I watched the entire match, Argentina were not spectacular. Brazil were just disappointingly bad. An anti climax and a let down to all the pre-match vibings.

I mean, there is only a meagre amount of motivation your shit talking can give to a team that has Endrick as the go-to player on the bench when you need goals. You can only set yourself up for mockery with such a support cast.
