It was very smart move from Jose to put Higuain on Mascherano , knowing his every move you can see all Higuain did was follow Mascherano and live on his mistakes ... not game positioning but the Argentinian positioning

Assuming it was a tactical decision (which I hardly doubt) it was luck of epic proportions, this guy is usually a rock and calmness itself.

If you are watching a replay of the game look at every Higuain run including the first goal.. you will see him running towards Mascherano more than the ball

in normal circumstance forwards wouldn't even run towards a ball that is already within the defender reach like yesterday (beside the point that Higuain was pants yesterday )

he didn't have a bad game, pique didn't have a bad game. they each made ONE BAD MISTAKE. that doesn't mean A BAD GAME. they were monsters the other 89 minutes. quite the opposite of CR who was great in 1 minute and poor in other 89 minutes (like his previous clasicos) montoya and alba missed sitters, that doesn't mean they had bad games ffs. but thats the difference between defenders and strikers no?

he made a mistake which cost us but i can think of at least 3-4 other moments during the game when he saved our asses! if it wasn't for him Real would/could have easily scored 5 or 6 last night.

All this Mascherano backlash reminds me of what Pep once said: "In football you are only as good as your last game."

Guess he was right after all.

Both him and Pique were poor for the first 30 mins. Even apart from the 2 mistakes for the goals, Real had many clear chances created primarily because of poor coordination between Masch and Pique. I'm not too bothered about the error for the goal, usually he is rock solid and doesn't make mistakes like that. However he has a lot of improving to do in his positional play and reading of the game as a defender.

Mascherano is a beast! anyone things otherwise is an idiot. Yes he made an error which is largely for not being a natural CB but guess how many saves he made later? not to mention that super-pass that could have been a replica of the Pedro's first Goal last week. I have no doubt that Mascherano will have great games this season. He's the type of player that takes football very seriously. Wait and see! Don't know what Tito will do with Song but our defense is very weak for big games and come CL time we need to have a solid defense or else kiss the big prize goodbye.
