You can't read can you?

Anyways some of the reactions to the criticism is just mind boggling, Masch is certainly not a world class CB right now, and no one is retarded enough to base that judgement on an own goal which wasn't even his fault. But 90% of the making of a world class CB is knowing when to hold your defensive line and when to come out of your line and man mark, certainly an area Masch could improve a great deal in. When you leave your zone to disposes or press the opponent you have to be resolute (like Puyol) not leave it to chance, unfortunately Mach gets caught in no mans land one too many times for my liking. And this observation is not base don 30 mins of play or a silly own goal which wasn't his fault, but look at some of the goals we conceded, against Chelsea, Milan, Madrid etc. Masch does extremely well in most league games against second rate opposition, but he gets exposed readily against big teams. People need to learn to be objective and not percieve simple criticism as bashing, and this is coming from somebody who loves Masch. Being able to position yourself is something that you can learn/comes with experience so its certainly something he's likely to improve on.

The bolded part should be the responsibility of the DM. If Mascherano or any other CB is forced to pusho out of defence and man mark then rather than criticising the CB you should look at the defensive positioning and marking of the DM. Mascherano and Pique have looked exposed at times this season in this regard because Busquets hasing been performing his defensive role properly.

i dont give a damn,i just want to stop this shit we cant continue with this defense anymore, cause we have a weak defense
Puyol:non stopping injuries, his time is coming
Mascherano:all that me and many others have told 1 milion times, short and useless at set pieces, poor positionining
Pique:when he plays good he can be the best center back in the world but in sometimes he looks like an average centerback

so.......

Right now it's too late to "fix" things. All I can say is that when Javier plays with Puyol they are the best pairing in the world. Pique doesn't have that commanding presence and Javier isn't a natural CB and it shows. Anyway he's still very good and I think TIto and Pep agree hence why we didn't really push for T.Silva. Maube Hummels next summer? :)

I love Masch, as i know he's as tall as cannavano, Masch is converted central defender from defensive midfielder. Of course, we can't require him as a central defender playing in a long time like Cannavaro. He plays well at midfield with a CM kinda Alonso or Bastian Shweisteiger. But in Barca, just one DM, we need a DM is mixed between defensive midfielder and central midfielder like Busquets or Javi Martinez. Masch can play DM for us but he can't hold the game as well as Busquets or Javi Martinez does.

Of course, he still makes positional mistakes sometimes, specially when we face some strong teams, but it's hot for us to find another central defender better than Masch, I don't think Hummels would leave Dortmund, because he's German, and i feel like Germans in Dortmund want to build up their team back to their glory days in Europe again.

shit compared to the beast he was before

He was $hit from last year the 3 most important matches
he f**ked things up big time for the 85093809840 he is no CB and never will be
in every game this season he made huge mistakes
I don't know when this nightmare is going to stop somebody at the club need to
do something about it we can't go thru each match like this we need a CB

Nice post. You articulated well what my opinion is regarding Mach at CB.

He does seem to have had a lull in his performances, particularly in this one against Granda...Although perhaps that was owing to how his responsibilities were different with no Pique or Puyol
