he is the best sliding tackler in the world, but sometimes he need to keep his feet on the ground. he got it wrong twice in first half and should've been sent off. add the mistake that led to corner (and thus for goal) id say his worst performance in barca shirt since his debut vs hercules.

He's more of the John Terry last-ditch-save-your-ass-with-a-sliding-tackle player. I've never seen any world-class defender rely a whole lot on his tackling.
He lunges in far too often for my liking. I wouldn't trust him starting in the CL games against the likes of Munich etc, unless he's got a prime Puyol and Abidal alongside him.

He should have returned to midfield this season and a CB should had been bought. He´s not a CB good enough to barcelona...

I though people who point out Masch's flaws are haters?
He shouldn't have been sent off, but the tackle that led to the goal sums up Masch's defending for me. If you're gonna commit to a challenge in a place like that either make sure you get it 100% spot on or don't bother, there's no in between. Often a clinical tackler but more often caught hesitating and in no mans land. He needs to be a lot more decisive, focused and clinical to be considered a world class CB for me.

He isn't good enough to play in midfield for Barcelona, Busquets is the only one good enough for our system, Song/Thiago will slot in to DM if Busquets is out injured...

As much as the dearly departed Meta would love to tell me otherwise, Mascherano is not a natural CB, never will be a natural CB.
However, for Barca's system, he is very good in the CB role assuming he's playing on a legitimate backline. He doesn't have the natural sense to cover up when he's around someone as lost in the role as Song is, and without structure, he too will be lost.
It's simple, the fault is not the players who are mostly excellent when used properly, the fault is Zubi or Tito or Pep or whoever it was who insisted that Masch, Piquez and a Puyol near the end are enough.
Mascherano is great next to Puyol or Pique. But the two of them have been injury prone for a while now, and in Puyol's case the clock is ticking.
The thing is he effectively plays like a DM still, albeit a very, very deep one.

it's not a flaw and not a critic. because he gets it 99% times right and have saved barcas asses countless times. so whatever i'd say here masch would still beast the hell out of me.

He is a beast when it comes to tackling though, but Barca under tito play a bit more direct, which means the defence is a bit more exposed & Mascherano at cb has his flaws.
