Well it's tough to criticize but he has been chasing the play since he came back. We have to be fair though he only played 2 games in last 2 months now and that's against Milan and Real. 2 goals against in 2 games ain't all that bad.

If we continue to play him in big games he will eventually cost us. He is not good enough against the big teams. Batra must be raging.

Oh, I thought it was INSULTING to say he's not a CB. This forum.

We can't gamble with Mascherano's performances. Against good teams he's more often bad than he is good.

Agree. He cost us a CL final in 2012 and almost cost us the tie against Milan last season.

Because he plays in that position doesn't mean he's a CB, from the moment he thinks and acts as a midfielder he won't be a CB. It's already mentioned many times that he lacks the height which is a very important aspect for a defender and especially for a team like Barcelona at least it's defenders should be tall. I don't think he has the sense of positioning and the right understanding of a situation to stop it, that's why he always likes to go first. But that can be dangerous at times, see his mistake against Milan see his wrong positions at Higuain's goal in the Super Cup in Bernabeu. I mean he's not bad at all playing against normal - small sides but he's not the right one to play big games. He's been very good this season but that comes from an image before playing a big game like this, now he's tested in a big game you can see that he can't compete on that kind of games.

Can people now see his huge tendencies to make errors i spoke about earlier on in this thread. . . . Did anyone notice the "slip' in the first half? . . . He wasn't under any pressure, just slipped for no reason.

A long time ago I mentioned that the coaches at River Plate when they do things they do it for a reason. They moved him out of a centre back berth for reasons of height, positioning and pace and moved him further forward to let his pace be less of a hindrance.

The club should have invested in two relatively high quality centrebacks and they will need to do so over next summer.

He's a monster at defensive midfielder and that his where he should play.
