14 - Javier Mascherano

has Mascherano played at DM during his Barca tenure? If so what game? I can't quite remember. I'd sell Song over the summer as he should be getting more playing time and get a CB to take Javier's role, then move him to DM where he can play along side Busquets or get the Song role but with more appearances obviously. You can't ignore his hard work and dedication, prolly our hardest working player.

I like Song but his positioning and reading of the game is not very good for a DM compared to the likes of Busquets and Masch. But again, Song is younger and if taught well, could be a good DM. Masch has not played DM for a while and so may be rusty at that position. I will not sell him though unless the price is right, he wants to leave and we have a very good candidate for CD. You cannot discount his other soft attributes.

It couldn't have been more than a handful of games early on, would be an interesting experiment to try it again with Bartra playing ahead of him at CB...Certainly would be a worthy alternative to Song

Not at all he had a number of good tackles and interceptions.

No defender in the world will stop Ballotelli every time if isolated like that against him every time.
