Yeah, this is very true. He kinda had to improve in this area when Shabby left, and he did so.

Anyway, I hope the deal goes through €15m + Hleb for a DM of his effectiveness is a great price.

Yeah, official announcement appears imminent. It makes sense for both parties. Barca and Liverpool both solve problems.

My guess is that Busquets would switch with Mascherano, and that Busquets would also be charged with covering Xavi. I don't think Sergio would take a hit in minutes or at least not enough of one to be catastrophic to his development.

Mascherano would be a great signing. He would be good cover for Busquets or even Xavi if sh!t hit the fan

he could never be a replacement for xavi, but he would allow for busquets to push further up the pitch if needs be.

I think that its looking like a done deal.15m plus Hleb,Probably a Baraign,he can play even as a centreback and he will give Busquetes some competetion(I dont know who will be our first choice but for me it will be Busi)He will provide another dimension than Busi,I really hope that it will be our last addition this summer.

we should have gotten this stuff out of the way a long time a go, and have the player settling into the team already.

Its a done deal,I am sure of that now,even Marca is reporting it.

The reported deal is great in terms of value for Barca, but I'm disappointed in the move. Surely that will mean Busquets will be reserve? He has been improving and after a great World Cup can push on. Although it does mean you have two types of defensive midfielders.

you guys need to stop underrating busquets, he may not be the best DM in the world, but he is the best one for the barca system.

Mascherano will have to come in and show he deserves to be a starter a head of Busiquets and if he does then he deserves to start, but it won't be easy for him, as busquets is an excellent player.

so we got rid of one DM because he was unhappy at not being the automatic first choice....to sign another player in that position who is also going to be unhappy at not being the automatic first choice. great..what could possibly go wrong??

i'm very unhappy with our dealings in the transfer market this season (minus villa signing), and meanwhile i think madrid have been much smarter than us. i predict a tough season ahead.
