19 - Lamine Yamal

Horatio

You're welcome
Fast means that he doesnt need to be a great dribbler because he will out run, but needs space.

Fast means that any injury might kill his speed.

Fast means the older he gets, the slower he gets.

Fast is not sustainable.

Class is dribbling, brain and technique.

Class is constant adaptability.

Class is Messi's position and skill set evolution over time.

Class is forever.
Yeah but he could have been class + fast.

Mahrez was fairly quick and very nimble.

Mahrez at older than Lamine was on trial at St Mirren in Scotland and not being signed though. Can go variety of ways.

Like I said before mahrez is the closest comp I'd make of players going today.

If he gets to that level at a minimum, we'd be set on the left wing.

Dont see him like Mahrez.

Mahrez is much more direct and goes at defences.

Lamal can at times but much more of a pause and can pick a pass.

Lamin is not crazy fast, not slow either, but what i notice, is he shields the ball away from from his markers very well, even, when having someone on his back and has the mental awareness to stop and fiddle with defenders just at the right moment, when they seem to have overwhelmed him and still get away with unexpected maneuver or make the right pass. Therefore all this discussion about his pace seem irelevant to me. Raphina has higher top speed than him imo, but is completely useless as a ball carrier.

R9 kind of brute force speed is not reliable.

Tiny injury or some aging, that speed is all gone.

Messi is Not dominating MLS at 36 because of his speed.

All Cardiophinha has is some decent speed.

You don't need to be fast to be a good winger. Flexibility and general mobility, and of course, technique, are more important.

If you can unbalance people with quick turns and fast feet you can be just as effective as a kick and run winger.

So this lad plays well vs Tottenham B team as a sub. Now people compare him to Messi, R9, Neymar
Promising player. I hope he develops. Quick feet and acceleration.

But Neymar was faster both at that age and when he came to us. Not even close.
