19 - Lamine Yamal

They will be coming for him from all quarters. They are desperate for his behaviour to be anything but perfect so they can attack him for not being humble enough.

He has a massive bullseye on his back. There is the usual Madrid hate train that can't stand the fact they have to spend hundreds of millions of state funds to buy French or Brazilian players who can come even remotely close to his ability

I love Messi to bits, but there are his worshippers who will also do Madrid's bidding. Every success of Lamine they see as a threat to the legacy of Leo.

And then there are the footballing accountants, who will go through his new contract with a fine tooth comb looking to portray him as some gluttonous mercenary. :lamine:

We must defend him with our lives. :hunt:

There are such kneejerk reactions. Absolutely no indication he wants to be a Neymar, as if that is even a bad thing. wtf is this narrative. Neymar has always been the most hardworking one out of MSN, same at PSG between him, Messi and Mbappe. His defensive workrate has always been impressive for a player of his talent.

Yamal just had a bad night where he couldn’t really go past the LB. His first touch was also off, maybe due to the weather. When he would lose the ball, he’d try to make an effort to win it back.

Who played a very good game (best player on the pitch in 1st half imo). We need to learn to give credit to opponents some time and not just criticise our players. Carreras had a lot of help from Schjelderup as well, at least in first 60 minutes. Then they probably ran out of gas a bit.

Good post overall.

He's 17 and is allowed to have a poor game (for his already incredible high standards) or even a poor patch of form without stupid ego theories. Probably also a bit tired so would def consider leaving him on the bench in one of next games but not for the same reasons some of his doubters mentioned.

Fucked up for the winner in Atletico game too. Fucked up for the Getafe goal.

I'm not downplaying his talent though but in my opinion he's not better than Lamine in terms of how good they are at their role on the pitch. And he is also prone to fluctuations in game performance, only thing I'm trying to say it's perfectly normal for a 17 year old player.

Let's all remember that he is 17 years old.

In cases with normal 17 years old, we would be lucky that the player gets at least 30 minutes of game time, never mind a goal or assist.

At 17, Leo had a single goal in 77 minutes of play

At 18, 6 goals in 914 minutes

At 19, 14 goals in 1996 minutes

He didn’t eclipse 20 goals until 21

People are ignoring how unprecedented this is with both Lamine and Pau

In a financially stable period could this have happened? Unlikely but perhaps with Lamine since there were concerns about his first professional contract leading to Xavi playing him at 15. But again Barto’s calamitous reign figured significantly

Cubarsi, I think 21/22

Obviously and likewise pros and cons with this early age reliance.

Mbappe said it years ago but don't talk about age. The best are on the pitch and we all know what he's capable of. He tried those last 2 games some unusual and useless tricks, not to mention his need to shot no matter the position. He's loosing the good spirit's state.
