Gundogan should be the one sold.

He had a good season but he is 34 and on a large salary. The difference would most likely be having him for one less season also.

Sell him for even 15m and it would be around 33m improvement on the books to sign players compared to nothing and he leaves in a season anyway.

Having 34 yr old Gundo and 36 year old Lewa as two most central attacking players taking up 60m+ on the books is as bad financially as it is tactically for games against the top games. Add to that they dont even have pace around them.

Trouble with that is neither will leave the situation they have currently at Barca.

The hysterics around the sale of Gundogan is exactly why we don't progress at the club. Nobody at the club seems to have a business mindset.

You get an aging player for free, he has a good first season, then you can flip him for a massive profit as he declines... no good CEO is saying no to that.

Instead we prefer to keep him and try and eke out one more expensive season or two and then get nothing at the end of it. When could make a huge profit off a free signing of an old player.

Sometimes the club don't act like they are broke really.

They want to sell him, but there's not much they can do when he won't leave.

They would sell him in a heart beat but they are aware he is on a huge salary for his age and living a great life in final years in Barcelona... final football years hes nae there to die.

Probably also aware of how badly they have treated players/coaches and wont try to force it.

As with Lewandowski he was given a very high wage... hard to move old players like that.

Lessons of the past haven't been learned.

We managed to force Kessie out. But he was reportedly on 4m NET, which Saudi basically triple being tax free and paying the wages from limitless black gold.

Get's a bit more difficult when we put an old player like Gundy on 9m Net.

Likes of Kessie is different and they told him couldnt see him playing much and he left.

Gundo wouldnt think he wont play much and it is much bigger news/bad pr if do same to Gundo.

Gundo also knows he will get that SA contract in a years time and make 18m odd in the mean time.

Kessie was on a lot less and if he insisted in staying would be a lot of money lost and probably less if signs on back of a season he barely played.

Who says anyone wants to buy gundo and the club rejected it?
The club can be more tactical. Players are more likely to leave if they see they'll be replaced or won't play much.

It becomes impossible to plan for the future or move these old players along if you get them in as stopgaps and dont replace.

Wasn't aware club were interested in selling him though so that is a caveat on my original post. It's mainly been fans and big FCB accounts on twitter reacting with outrage.

He is definitely not a bad player, very tidy player actually. But the last thing we need is another CAM. Pedri, Gavi, Fermin or even Gundogan clan play there. Even worse if we want to try Olmo as a LW.

Rather keep the cash, or spend it on a real DM like Zubimendi. Bar Man United & Chelsea we are the worst ran club in Europe.

They would want rid of Gundo, Lewa and Inigo but they cant really and those players will stay for next year and cost 70m odd on the books with most likely all gone for free in a year and nothing gained financially. While the team at best treads water for what could be done on that money in the mean time.

Inigo maybe leaves but even him on 9m a season when is 34 and can barely stay fit is a farce.

I think he would be the best AM/10 at Barca for Flick ahead of those others.. He is far more mobile than Pedri/Gavi and Gundo with the ability to carry ball and run at teams on break.

Signing him to play AM/10 does in theory give more chance for others to play deeper when dont have a DM and light in there.

But most likely he plays LW if signs would think and no one sold.
