I disagree.
Umtiti was widely highly rated in his 2 seasons here until world cup.
Many thought he is a beast and world class. To say he was " never established in the upper echelons of CBs" is wrong tbh.
Sure, there are many who doubted him, but it is same case for almost every world class player
