Wijnaldum, garcia and depay are great for cost.

They will improve team for 0.

Next year bring superstar like Haaland or great CB like Kounde,Upamecano etc.

Upamecano was horrible in some very important games during this season. We are broke and we shouldn't overpay a CB. I am sure Kounde and Upamecano won't even be considered.

Signing Garcia for 3 mil is a very logical thing to do. Even if he fails completely we won't lose any money. The guy even agreed to play for free until next season. This is indeed a great market opportunity and a risk free move. Laporta is actually thinking more about himself that Barca by refusing to approve this transfer.

It's actually unbelievable how people see spending 3 mil as a huge problem. In contrast, they have no problem with paying 75 mil for Haaland (plus 20% fee to Raiola) , 50+ mil for Kounde or 42 mil for Upamecano.

Can't run, too short, and way too mistake prone. It's understandable that people don't want to waste time with a below average CB.

It's not 3M, its 3 fixes; + 7 easy variables. 10M total.

And he is going to earn:
First season 3M net salary (6M after taxes)
Second season 5M (10)
Third season 8M (16)
...
...
All this info from the reliable Oriol Domenech.

8(16) f millions in one season, are you kidding me?
42M total in three seasons and his contract is going to be 5 years, so you can add 32M more if he earns only 8M(16). And imagine if his contract keeps increasing to 10M, 12M in the forth and fifth year, (we dont have that info at the moment)

74M at least for 5 seasons of Garcia.

He's not going to earn that with Laporta.
For example Alaba is going to Madrid for 11M/season(22) for 4 years. Total 88M.

It's Bartomeu still in charge? no, it's Font's business with Soriano and De la Pena, Eric's agent. All of them win except Barcelona.
- Font's electoral image signing a player.
- Eric and agent wages.
- Tusquets's war with Laporta since Elefant Blau in 1997, a "mocion de censura" brought by Laporta against Nunez. Tusquets was a Nunez, Rosell and Bartomeu's board member.
Its always the same old history in Barcelona, political wars. Laporta is going to have a rough 30+ days from radio/tv/newspapers until election day. I live in Catalunya and they are criticising everything Laporta does or says, its laughable.. they even leak that report today

On paper Garcia-Araujo should be a good CB pairing if both reach their potential, their qualities seem to compliment one another.

I don't understand why some are against it, even if the guy sucks we'll be able to sell him easily unlike our big money flops. This is a low risk-high return transfer.

We paid 4M for Douglas and we were in much better financial situation, economy was better and yet everyone thinks it is bad deal.

We signed Gustavo Maia for 3M, it is "nothing" and yet La Masia clan on twitter can't stop shitting on him.

If Eric was Brazilian, no one would have defended that deal. It would have been another BARCA OBSESSION WITH BRAZILIANS, WTF, WHY CAN'T WE LET IT GO, OMG THIS CLUB IS SO BAD.

Eric might prove doubters wrong, might turn out class, all is true.
But he is a player whose best performance at top level was mediocre at best. He is physically average for CB which make it more difficult to succeed in such demanding position.

I highly doubt his wage will be team friendly as much as you think
And the kid isn't that highly rated anywhere. Why should we bid against themselves and rush things.

There will be always a chance to lose money in such operations and what is worse is wasting time and opportunities you could give to another player.

If anything, Laporta is sound of reason in this, Font is just campaigning, which is fair.

A document was leaked about why we wanted Eric quickly.

Here are the translated parts.

Thread: An internal report with which the sporting area want to show the need to sign Garc?a this month describes that Koeman only has three available centre-backs in the team: Lenglet, Umtiti and Ara?jo. [tv3]

Three centre-backs, from which the latter doesn't have a lot of experience, and Umtiti is described as an "unreliable player in terms of injuries". The report also stresses that Piqu? will not return for another two months. [tv3]

Furthermore, the coaching staff believes that Mingueza "can help in medium-demand games, but for the most important games he's not ready yet", and Mingo and Igor from Bar?a B are both out with an injury. [tv3]

The report also illustrates that the signing of Garc?a is a "market opportunity that must be taken advantage of". According to the coaching staff, Garc?a has accepted Bar?a's proposal by rejecting much higher ones economically speaking. [tv3]

All of this are ok, but non explain the football addition we expect from Eric.
The only thing is that he is better than Minguiza

Random brazilian? Sure. A Brazilian whos already part of their national team? Different case. And thats Eric. I wouldnt want us to buy him now for two reasons though:
1) Fuck Bartomeus board. The leaked document stinks.
2) We can get him for free in a few months. And we should. Great business.

Obviously he's rated by at least two managers who have given him an opportunity to play in Premier League, Champions League and for Spain's NT. And it's not the case of being called up once, he's a regular in Lucho's plans.

And comparing him to Douglas and Maia lol. Fine if you compare Todibo to them, but Eric isn't close to being that kind of an unknown player.

Good post.

Also, don't forget how they've downplayed Ramos Mingo but he proved them wrong before his injury.

He might be better but he's still not a sure-fire starter imo. At least he shouldn't considered one.

And profile wise I prefer Mingueza over Garcia.

Garcia might not be a clear-cut solution, but it's obvious we lack options in that area. 10 m is tad too much, still.

Spain has a problem in CB, that is why he is getting opportunities. NT is rarely an indication of anything tbh.
And Pep gave him opportunities, and then he became 5th CB for him. Not sure how this is being rated by Pep? Even City fans doesn't even seem to care about him.

So yeah, if a 5th choice CB in City was Brazilians and fans thinks it is bad deal that we aren't signing him now, selfish from candidates who wants to assess such deal when in the office and not signed by unelected board.

And comparing him to Douglas and Maia lol. Fine if you compare Todibo to them, but Eric isn't close to being that kind of an unknown player.

Because he is from La Masia and played few minutes in big stage. That is the main reason he is more known.
The point is comparing the financial aspect, Eric isn't sure thing financially as you would think, he isn't granted to be sold for profit if he fails.
Also, his salary will be on another level than any of those names too.

tbf, Eric is aggressive defender and he doesn't foul that much or play on opponent body as much as Oscar, or even Araujo for that matter.
That is probably the one thing I like about him the most.
We are seeing with Pedri that we can get some gems if we look well and with low cost, and with Dest that we can get someone with reasonable price too, and we have Igor and Mingo in Barca B who are highly rated talents too.
Buying Eric just because he is "free" isn't the smart thing to do.
Laporta here is right, a new board need to assess the whole deal financially and football wise. What if new sporting director is fan of another player who would cost same or less amount?
