24 - Thomas Vermaelen

Vermicompost (its good/bad depending on how you look at it) :p

He may 've shown promise in his early ARS tenure. But he's gotten older, and suffered a series of injuries over the years. Its about how useful he's at this moment, and a lot of your fan-base don't really rate him. Players with positional flaws (verm's main weakness from what I've been reading) tend to bomb at Barca, add that to his injury-proneness, and Barca's taking a 19M € gamble.

You have a point. With fans, it's not really a matter of "what have you done for me", but "what have you done for me yesterday".

One of the reasons I stopped posting on Arsenal forums was the frustrating responses I'd get from supporting Ramsey after his Nottingham Forest loan. "It's not about the leg break anymore, he's just a shit player", "sell him", etc. Being optimistic does have a few pitfalls (I did think Denilson & Song would come good at one point), but it's better than always expecting the worst of a player. Looking at the big picture now, I honestly believe a lot of people are being short sighted with Vermaelen, and will probably be deleting their posts when he starts putting on great performances in La Liga.

The Messiah
I never laughed at Barcelona. It happened that i criticized Zubi and Rosell (at the time he was president, i never hid that i hated him), but as i said to JamDav 10 times, i never make fun of other clubs, especially not the ones i like. I may have been harsh to some members, but heated discussions with them don't mean i intended to laugh at barcelona.

That said, yeah i believe in what i said. If Marcos started to boycott PSG it might have been different. Till he accepted his fate, he was closer than any hummels or benatia to force his way out. He was the only one of three that felt cheated by his club.

No offence, but reading your posts, you sometimes come across as passive aggressive towards Barcelona.

I hope you're right Robbie and that he proves us wrong, but I'll be wary of your comments as I think you also said Song would do well here :pep:

Usually the ones thinking that have their own problems when it comes to accept critics and arguments towards their preferred club. So really it's not my problem. The sol time I got into problems here with the mods was last year when I had an heated discussion with Beast... while i defended Barcelona!

If you really think I am aggressive, then I wonder what do you think about some posters that just post to complain or insult the board + mass of Zubi smileys here and there.

That said, if you have any problems with what I say, you can either send me a PM, post on my profile or PM the mods to review the posts that you dislike.

Bertus you have said nothing to me '10 times'.

You making comments about Barcas transfer policy is no different to me than any Man Utd or Real Madrid fan who would get it thrown back at them as well.

I was refrering to those times when you bring up DL for no reason just because you read something from me. Which doesn't happen when the same comments come from "pure" barca fans.

It was a way of saying it with the "10 times", what's sure is that it happened a few times already.

And if you think it's ok to bring those things up instead of using better arguments, then no problem with me, I'll just avoid your replies then.

True, but I don't know if you guys even got the same Alex Song. It's like his mentality completely changed when he left England. I didn't see the fight or tenacity that he had, or those awesome lobbed passes.

It has happened once and as I said you are a fan of another team coming on here and slagging off the club. It doesnt sit well.

Cant get my head around someone who claims to be a PSG/Barca/Dortmund fan. Maybe its different in France but here people would get ridiculed for it.

Nope not only once, but since i have to go prepare dinner, I won't waste my time digging posts.

And I don't see what's ridiculous, I was a fan of PSG, Barcelona and Dortmund way before Qatar took over PSG. Because i can already guess what's shit is in your mind right now.

Last time i reply to your shitty posts anyways. Have fun being on my blacklist for good.

But even in his best days at Arsenal he was liked for his goals not his defending. He still made a lot of tactical errors and last ditch tackles (which now after age and injuries will result in a goal often).

It doesnt matter when you became a fan of those clubs thats up to you. I am saying to me it is a total foreign notion and influences the way your posts come across.

Put me on the 'blacklist' if you want. Couldnt care less.

It wasn't just about his goals. He also has great presence in the air and would outjump almost anyone to clear the ball away, even against defenders that were much taller than him. We had Almunia as our keeper who would stay rooted to his spot for everything, so having a no-nonsense CB who cleared everything was very helpful. We also had the likes of Silvestre, Squillaci, Gallas, etc. so having Vermaelen was huge step up. The goals were a welcome surprise, but just something extra.

I have never watched him, but if what you described is true, he is more then welcome here. We need defenders that are willing to break a players leg(not really, but a player who is not afraid of contact) maybe that aspect will rub on pique who sometimes relies too much on his skill rather then body.
