Doesnt matter if they have the money available and it is whether they think they are worth it.

Many clubs could afford to buy either of them and havent - if you think they are available.

It's possible they didn't think they were Barça centre backs, also just because you have money doesn't mean you blow it. They screwed up on centre backs before so they probably went for the cheaper option overall by getting Mathieu and Verm who are both Barca profile (might not be world class but they fit perfectly).

Maybe they are just scared to spent big on 1 CB and playing for Roma and Dortmund is different to barca.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Also they probably would have gone for Hummels if he was available. From what I saw of Benatia he isn't really a Barca cb.

TV signing means they are putting trust in Bartra. I would have taken another route but then again I'm not a sporting director so. I welcome him and hope he gets back to his best form and makes us proud.

Because..... he is quite good at passing, he got decent speed in his legs, he is excellent positionally and he can play in a high line as well.....

Not a Barca CB. Hmmmmm.... I wonder how.

PS: Not saying we should've gone for him if he is not available or anything, just don't get how he is not a 'Barca CB'.

So 43m for Laporte is blowing money but 20m for a 31 defender and 19m for an 28 years old injury prone has been is not? How many times Barca has screwed up on CBs exactly? Only Chygrynskiy and that was a stupid deal at the first place. Not because Chygrynskiy didn't fit the profile blah blah. Because Barca already had Puyol, Pique, Marquez, Milito and Abidal as the CBs at the time before they went and splash 25m for a 6th CB for God knows what reason. That deal was so out of the place and bound to failure tbh. Chygrynskiy didn't really get a fair chance to prove himself. One slip and there were already 5 bigger names than him to take his place.
