What a monumental failure and joke of a transfer this was. I am almost lost for words.
The worst thing of all this is that we can't say that we did not expect this. Maybe not to such an extent but it was an accident waiting to happen in other words. We basically bought a chronic injured crook. What the hell did the board expect to happen next then?
To think Mathieu and Vermaelen was the best that this board could deliver of central defenders in 4 years time (!!!) is simply mind-blowing.
I would really like to know what went through the heads of Bartomeu, Zubinútil, Lucho etc. when they decided to buy Vermaelen. A player that was not even good enough to start for Arsenal when fit once every 3 month.
All while they could have bought so many other players that were not only better but younger and less injury prone. For instance Benatia or Laporte who could have been bought for the same price as Vermaelen and the 31 year old chain smoker (Mathieu) that we bought for 20 million euros this summer were bought for. All while Mathieu could have been bought for the half the previous summer.
The club should adopt a new temporarily anthem when the upcoming summer ends.

I don't blame Vermaelen here. He seems like a good guy and I obviously wish him to succeed at the club like any other player.
We socios are paying our contingents each year while we witness this shit. I am fed up to say the least with this board and their continuous mismanagement and delusion.
