25 - Wojciech Szczęsny

Maybe he is not fit yet? It would be crazy to play against BM and RM with mediocre goalkeeper if you could have Szczesny.

"We are very happy with Peña and there is no reason to change now in La Liga or the Champions League"

Well shit.

Guess we're probably going to lose against Bayern and Madrid.
If Pena starts tomorrow, then he is better in training. Simple as that. Flick and his assistants had some weeks now to watch Woj in training. It's not like Flick is starting him because he likes him more. It's performance principle, the better player plays. We don't see the training, we don't see the actual form.
If you say we're probably going to lose against Bayern and Madrid with Pena, then you can also say we would lose even bigger with Woj in goal if he has a worse form than Pena.

Yeah, like Ferran, he's great in training.

But you're also leaving out the fact that Pena has been at Barca forever despite never showing anything great. They clearly think he's something.

Yea exactly in training, he might be good in training, but we all know, what will happen vs the better teams with him in goal.

Give tek the opportunity, because he certainly won't be worse than pena in a actual game.

I'd rather lose 3-0 with woj in goal, than 1-0 with pena, because with pena the lost is almost guaranteed before the game even played, with woj we don't know.

Pena is the Torres of keepers, he's good for training purposes only.

Guess hurting feelings of a Segunda level keeper is more important than wining football games. Now Inaki makes a fool of himself against Bayern and then Flick can change keepers.

No, because that's not professional. If you start giving out starting lineups because of hopes and dreams not because of performance principle, you can shut down the club. Why should any player try his best in training then, if the performance there doesn't count? This will thankfully never happen.
You're talking out of bias. As a fan you can do that, but not as a coach.

As a coach the single most important thing is getting 3 points in a game.

If you have 1 player who as shown he can't cut It at the highest level, you only gave one option really.

Flick already messed up by choosing the absolutely worse game to rotate, if he plays pena vs Bayern and Madrid, he'll just be double down on dumb decisions, that will cost the club value points.

You better be good Marlboro Man. We are used to seeing Stegen every week, so the bar is not very high.

Will reserve my full judgement till I see the lineup but if Pena plays instead of a former Juventus starting GK for multiple years, Flick is just another yes man like EV

Why yes man? I think Laporta would prefer playing Szczesny since he brought him from retirament to save the club and the fatty will be a hero once again. This is Flick's decision.

Agree to disagree. You don't know Woj's form as you don't see the training. He could be as fast as a 70 year old grandpa with arthritis for all we know. He lost passion for football, ended his career, was many weeks out doing nothing but smoking and enjoying his freedom. He's 34 years old.
You simply have a bias against Pena and still the prime Szczesny in your mind. You can't possibly make the call who is better on the pitch right now without seeing them daily in training.
