5 - Carles Puyol

And now I just wait...

This man is the most underrated player in our history ever. His pressence is so important, his pure beastiness is beyond this world. Our defence is a joke without this wall in it, some people say he's a human being but I disagree.
Can't imagine Barça's defence without this fucking legend :worthy: Puyi, el tiburon, el gran capità. You are the man.

Exactly, this guys pumps up the rest of the team like no other, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Puyi once quoted saying: "Sometimes a good yell (to a teammate) is better than a good pass"?

Puyi does this for the entire team, if he's not there our percentage drops by 100%.

There's no debate that Puyol is the heart of the team. How is he not recognized Jaden? He will surely be considered one of the best CB's in the world when his career finishes...

Xavi just doesnt have Puyi's authority, when Puyi retires we would have some serious problems without his authority and skill on the pitch.

Xavi is just different, his leadership is very much aligned with the role he plays in midfield. Puyol's leadership is totally different.

Unfortunately, I don't see Pique as his successor, I think Mascherano is more the leadership type of a guy than Pique. Xavi's successor is again another story.

Okay, I feel our defense has been mediocre ever since Puyol's major injury. We also lack his Tarzan confidence, powerful leadership, and crackling headers.

Barça must send him (+ two scouts) into the jungle to find his successor. Preferably someone that can crush poacher skulls with his knuckles.

Puyol is the best possible example of a captain. If someone were to ask me what makes someone a captain, I'd think of Puyol and start naming his qualities. On and off the pitch.

On the other hand, John Terry is the worst possible example, but that's another story. :D

Anyway, it's tough watching Barca without him. I hope he makes a quick recovery and find his way back into the starting 11 soon. He may be 34, but the team needs him just as much as ever.
