That's quite a strong card for Laporta I think. I'm sure I'm not the only fan who badly wants Puyol back in the club, and personally I really think he'll be a great sporting director. For instance, you just know he will have a great working relationship and communicate well with whoever is the coach (Lucho in this case), and will be completely geared in towards finding the right players that the team needs at any given moment in tandem with said coach. He's such a great personality, and someone who have a natural authority about him. My guess is that he'd fit the role in Barca like a glove.

I'm the biggest Puyol fan on this planet and he will always be my favourite Barca player of all time.

That being said, I don't think this is a good move if true. Puyol has virtually no experience and I would absolutely hate to see the media and fans turn against if something goes wrong due to his inexperience like what happened with Zubi.

Puyol should be bought in as an assistant to an experienced sporting director and gain experience which will eventually allow him to take the helm.

If it is true, then I hope he doesn't turn into another pre-2014 Zubi. Imagine the fans slating him like they did to Zubi.

That said, I think he could do a good job, but I'd keep the committee (Braida/Rexach) as well.

But Puyol always seemed to be interested more in the business side of the game than coaching side .if he has good scouting team and assistant with him I think he can do good job

You can never know if players brilliance and on field intelligence will be translated in the other parts of the game .can never know who is gonna be the best Sporting director or coach

Presidential candidates need popular figures to help them win elections. It's that simple. It has little or nothing to do with competence.
