i would rather see puyol as a coach or assistant to the manager.
would like to see his hair celebrating in the bench with crucial goals during the season

He always said that he is more interested in business aspect of the game rather than the coaching .iirc he had football agency with de la Peña

Can Puyi and Braida work together?

Braida isn't a sporting director and more of an advisor .while he is the one who deals with the media there is nothing to prove for example that he has more role than Rexach in the club for example .I think he can easily stay in that role
He is an old man now and I think the advisor role might be the best position for him

I think a role as head of la masia or something would suit puyol better. Giving the kids someone to look up to while teaching them the true barca values. Also.he can point them.in the right direction and keep them.focused just like he did with pique so many times

Props to Puyol for not allowing himself to be used in elections by any candidate. Like I said i another thread: he can come back to the club after elections are over.

Puyol: "I played 1-on-1 against Messi in training. I said: Let's see if I can stop him. I couldn't. I tried everything. It was humiliating."
Puyol: "Pep told me: Carles, don't injure him now. I replied: Well, if you don't want anything to happen, end the training." [la vanguardia]

Puyol gave a interesting interview to la vanguardia: http://www.lavanguardia.com/deportes/futbol/20150627/54432559147/carles-puyol-seguir-sin-cobrar.html

Some parts translated by https://twitter.com/AddictedToBarca

Q: "What day did you decide to leave it all?"
Puyol: "It wasn’t a day, I am not one to throw in the towel quickly. But after the last surgery, when the knee started to secrete liquid, I saw that I couldn’t compete nor train. Tata Martino wanted me to play, but I would tell him: 'Put in others, they are better.'

Q: "Sporting director, coach, agent?"
Puyol: "They’re all attractive, but now it is time for my formation. I did the course of Sporting Director and now I’m going to take the coaching course."

Q: "You think of becoming a coach?"
Puyol: "Maybe I’ll find a calling I never had."

Q: "Was it hasty accepting Barça’s offer of being Zubizarreta’s assistant?"
Puyol: "Yes, but I don’t regret it. I learned a lot. But I think that it wasn’t the moment, not because of the club, but because of me.

Q: "When did it become clear that it wasn’t working?"
Puyol: "On my first day in the office, I noticed that it was already weird. And when I saw that I did not feel comfortable, in November, I reported to the president that I had decided to leave. In December, I told Zubi and later what happened happened."

Q: "So you leaving wasn’t in solidarity with Zubizarreta?"
Puyol: "No, I had already made my decision."

Q: "Why did you and Zubi leave at the same time?"
Puyol: "It was because of the club. It was all prepared to be announced on January 2nd. After delaying it several times. I didn’t have any problems to explain my reasons to the people. But the day arrived and I was told that this could not be the first news of the year. Then I asked them if they were going to dismiss Zubi and they told me no."

Q: "But did they fire Zubi?"
Puyol "I didn’t like that they fired him, nor how it happened."

Cheers.
Sheds some new light on his resignation.

I'd really want to see him back. Refused to play anywhere else but Barca and whore himself for oil money in Middle East. Also loved that he refused to have his name being used in election shenanigans. This guy has a spine and can't be bought.
Guy is a moral vertical. Forget Xavi, Abidal or anyone else. Puyol is the man.

Not true. In his last season Tata wanted him to play. Puyol made the decision to call it quits.

Because he was in no condition to play anymore. He can't even run properly, it's in the interview.

He didn't refuse to,he actually wanted to play elsewhere in his career .in his last press conference with Barca he announced he is leaving the club but not retiring because he want to see if his body heel probably .i.e he left the door open to play somewhere else if he is back to health
There is nothing wrong in playing elsewhere at the end of the career .it is the smart decision actually

Well, even if that's true he sure as hell had plenty of options to cash in elsewhere in another role
