6 - Carles Alena

Send Puig and Oriol to them, no sense in sending Alena there, it would be a step down for him at this point honestly. He's proven that he can compete here. Sell the freaking oldies in Vidal and possibly Rakitic to make room for him instead. Sad truth is, that under Valverde and this Board though, he won't ever get a real chance, neither will Riqui.

Hopefully at least De Jong settles in well like Arthur did, a massive price tag to bring him should actually help, when it comes to this Board. Valverde will be under a lot more pressure to give him consistent playing time too, i'm sure. I just hope we manage to keep all of Arthur, De Jong, Alena and Puig at the club until 2021, things should improve massively for them and the whole of La Masia after that.

Actually here's to hoping we manage to keep most of our young players until 2021, including Malcom, Umtiti, Dembele and hopefully De Ligt. I've always said that we have a great team right now, just need the right manager and Board/mentality to implement it.

He can now get lots of la liga action so we get a better sense of what we may or may not expect next year. I
Could make a difference not just for his next years fate but coutinhos too.

Would be kind of a strange move but i mean we seem to be ready to pay 150M for two players from that league so it's not like we don't value playing there.

A la liga team would be the more logical choice but i guess you never know what happens at smaller sides there while with Ajax it's pretty much guaranteed that they keep their style and play international football. Could also be part of us working together with Ajax, potentially making it easier to get De Ligt.

I personally wouldn't loan him at all tho, he is good enough for Barca already.

I think it could be good move. He would be starter for Ajax so a step up for him. He is not going to play 90 minutes for us next season.

Alena is a weird case for me. He certainly is (or can be) a good squad player, but for an attacking midfielder he really doesnt look all that talented. Wouldnt mind loaning him to Ajax and give his minutes to Puig, who just looks the better talent.

I havent seen enough of him but from what I read he must be a direct asset to Ajax.

However, i cant imagine ajax flat out loaning him. I am pretty sure Ajax would want to buy him and perhaps give barca a fixed price after X years..

Ajax is so rich that loaning players doesnt make sense. Only for very specific positions like a pinch hitter or backup defender of 30+ it would make sense imo

Interesting

I dont really understand why most of you feel so strongly that loaning a player to low tier La Liga club is better than a loan to Ajax. Sure, the eredivisie is shite but you play feyenoord 2x, psv 2x and some tough away games + CL games. Always 45k crowd, max media attention and barca style football

When you play for a small La Liga club you park the bus against the big 3, play no European league and when relegation becomes close you might be benched cause they need tough experienced men instead of creative kids...

Also your teammates are not that gifted so you learn nothing during training sessions

Would be so good. Imagine Alena in this Ajax getting CHL quarter final experience against Juve. He is still just 21.

I hope he can go out on a loan. Our midfield is quite crowded with FDJ coming and Alena barely plays as is. Unless Rakitic Vidal Suarez Rafinha and Gomes are all sold he won’t be getting enough minutes.

Regarding this partnership with Ajax where we send players on loan, the deal also need to benefit them. Why would they take Puig and Oriol, players who player in the 3. division? Wont make them better for now. Players like Alena and Todibo will actually strengthen them. They are still very young. One or even two years at Ajax with CHL football will do them very very good.
