6 - Gavi

I always rated Pedri, the only concern were injuries. Gavi seems the same as before the injury, I don't think that's the problem. It's true coaches usually love him and it's possible he'll be a starter at CAM because Olmo never plays but that's not good for us, he can't play CAM.

Not sure claiming it takes 2 years to come back from ACL is accurate barring if further complications in the come back.

From top of head - Xavi was back playing at top top level when came back, Roy Keane came back and inspired Man Utd to the treble as their player of year, Wirtz has come back from ACL and looked top class very quickly etc.

Those are just example that come to mind of midfielders but cant see anywhere that clubs would expect it to take 2 years.

Also treatment come on since days of Xavi and Keane.

Cant argue one moment that Gavi looks like never been away then as soon as not as good as some make out that he is still recovering from ACL.

Most of what he lacks/good at is same as before just a bit worse.

He has for last few seasons been poorer than majority other midfielders for chances created, breaking lines, goals/assists, pass %, progressive carries etc, always been relatively slow and not the most mobile, poor positionally.

This season so far he has been worse but lets no pretned he was ever elite in a lot of those areas he is badly lacking in at again.

Not versatile like Luis Enrique in the late 90s, early 00s but similar passion about both. Lucho didn't get acknowledged either early in his career but eventually rose to legendary status and captain.

He doesn't need to be starter and there's plenty of time for him to become great

Lucho was a class act and could play anywhere in large part to how top a decision maker he was and his height/athleticsm to do it.

Gavi has none of that and is not a versatile player at all if the criteria is playing a number of positions at a high level.

Gavi is a small player that is below average athletically. He is slowest midfielder Barca have bar maybe Bernal.

False 9, Left wing, attacking midfielder, central midfielder..
Obviously not the insane Lucho level. That guy played all positions except CB and GK.

He plays none of those to a high level though to date.

Look at him at AM he is probably not even top 10 in La Liga there at his best.

Gavi would not be good at false 9 either. Doubt would be in top 5 in Barca squad trying to play there.

There are far far more versatile players in Barca squad than Gavi.

The level now is Balde and Kounde are being touted as best full-backs in the world. It's crazy.

Being passionate doesn't excuse recklessness by putting himself and the team in a worse position nor does it excuse poor performances.

He's a highly paid footballer. Not our mascot.

And he can become a very good player as well if he stops this dumbass hardman act and actually focuses on using his technique and playing properly as he actually did in his early days for us when the hype began. I don't know why it changed to what he has become now, but I don't care how passionate he is and how loud he yells if he doesn't perform well enough.

I hopped off the Gavi hype train a few stops ago.

Changed Platforms and hopped on to the Fermin hype train.

Train isn't full yet, few seats still available. Reserved for those with ball knowledge only.

It's a much more comfortable ride. It's a very long journey but I'm strapped in and committed to going all the way.

Final Destination : BALLON D'ORO.

Before Flick, when Barca lacked athleticism and energy, Gavi made an impact on the pitch. But now, with significantly higher standards, everyone contributes with intensity in both attack and defense. This raises the question: what does Gavi truly brings in terms of useful actions on the pitch?
