? i dind't bring suarez into the discussion. even said that the players were different before joining us.

Yes and comparing them on ability as if saying Suarez was better and a 'killer' while Torres wasnt refutes the point when in fact it is part of same point being made.

Everyone knows Suarez was better and in his prime and even he struggled at first.

Doesnt mean for sure Torres will come good just that it could well be too early to write off completely.

Only people who bring saurez in are those who are attempting to say better players than him have struggled.

But it's poor comparison to draw, just keep the debate focused on Torres.

Which is why saying Suarez was better than him is an irrelevant come back by those who still try to use Suarez in the debate.

but suarez was better and in his prime. that's why the club does a disservice by comparing two different players:

1. feran wasn't even close to having the same credentials suarez had before joining. everyone knows that.
2. club makes dumb comparison as if we are waiting for ferran to be this goal machine, when we don't even know what he's best at. i mean it kind of raises the expectations of him scoring bucket loads once he gets 1-2 in

Indeed Suarez was better which is the point. Better and higher profile players have struggled at first and things can change.

You are agreeing with why Suarez was brought up as comparison.

Nope no one is saying Torres will be next Suarez or score bucket loads. You are missing point if think that is it.

Torres will be good signing if can work hard for team, link ball well and get similar numbers to a Pedro type player for years to come.

Again I've never seen anyone who is trying to highlight how poor Torres has been thus far, bring up the saurez comparison, only those who are trying to highlight that Better players than him have struggled here.

& The obvious retort to that is in fact to point out that, Saurez was a much better player that him, before & during his time at Barcelona.

So xavi & everyone else who is trying to support him is doing him a disservice by drawing that comparison.

All they have to say his give it time he will come good, other other players have struggled as well early on, but to use the name saure, their is only one obvious & correct retort to that.

No they are saying better players have struggled at first with their finishing.

Simple as that.

The response that Suarez is better is no argument against saying that as everyone agrees and part of the point being made.

Obvious response which has no relevance as part of point being made.

It is nowhere near the big deal as folk trying to shit on Torres make out.

Everyone knows that which is why it's dumb name to bring up.

Which has only ever been brought up by those trying to support Torres, instead of taking the pressure off him, that's actually putting more pressure on, because now the average fan will associate Torres with saurez and that's a comparison he will never be able to live up with.

Not really it is just an obvious name to bring up as relevant to recent times at club and a great player for who it took time to settle.

Nothing major and nothing that will have any negative impact either way.

Of course it has been brought up by those like Xavi trying to keep him more relaxed and pressure off and for those on here etc who think it is relevant and too early to fully write off as if this is his level.

No average fan will associate Torres with Suarez in any way unless they are too dumb to see what point was actually being made.

It is nowhere near the talking point or issue as is being made out.

Xavi did it to make him more relaxed but based on his performance the obvious is true, he is clearly trying to show he is worth the money paid.

& I've heard multiple Barca has is evident even here draw the saurez comparison without fully understanding it's context.

Not heard anyone compare him to Suarez as a player at all and Xavis comments are fine as folk know what he was saying.

It is not about Xavi trying to prove he is worth the money but Xavi trying to get best out of him and the rest comes from there.

Fair hammering of Xavi on this when is just a simple comment that there is nothing wrong in making.

Remember when Suarez couldn't score a shit for his first 2-3 months at the club?

I just checked it was just shy of two months. He started Oct 25 after being in suspension since beginning of season. His first seven Liga matches no goals, first three of which he was played out of position on the right. He did have five assists though and in two CL matches in same time frame two goals plus another assist.
