7 - Ferran Torres

Ferran is not a watercarrier or a support player.

He's supposed to be one of the key and most prominent players of the team. He plays 90 almost every game, takes FKs, takes pens, cost 55m in this time of financial crisis etc. He has to be a leader.

True. He was signed to be a marquee player for us. And so far he seems to have quite the work cut out for him to deliver on that promise. I see potential, but also quite a few areas where he's not what you expect for the money paid on him. But he's young, his head seems to be in the right place, and he can refine as a player in the next few seasons.

Overall, I remain optimistic that he will come good and deliver at the expected levels.

Marquee player is a stretch. We could have twenty Ferrans in the squad and would have a very good wage mass (+amortization) ;D

And he's been quite good for us so far.

How many G+A do you think most wingers have?

Outside of the top top wingers wingers don't score 30 goals a season. Nobody said he is as good as Mane or Salah.

Nice goal shift

From Xavi won't let him score goals to

it's normal for forwards to be shit at scoring goals.

He is a pretty perfect water carrier, hence the cost, and that is why he is playing all the time. He should play his game like he does very well so far, we are now only waiting for him to become more confident in his finishing, which can happen overnight, and then he'll be a complete success even for those of you wishing he played differently.

Of course he cuts inside, again that's obvious, but he stays wide more often than some would like, Because we need the width, imagine us playing with both dembele & Torres both constantly coming inside, but unlike with Torres & alba, we have no outline on the right, it would be tactical suicide, doesn't take a football genius to see that, it's pretty much what was happening when we had Messi & no decent right back.

Ppl talk about mane & Salah forgetting who the fullbacks are that KEEP THE WIDTH for Liverpool, it's a very simple & fundamental part of football.

Whether dembele sucks at coming in or sucks at scoring is irrelevant, he doesn't do it as often as Torres for example because that's clear as day the tactical setup.

lmao the excuses

are you like Dembele's cousin or something? As if we don't have fullbacks in Barcelona capable of providing width. What was he doing last year on the left side alongside Jordi fucking Alba? Still not scoring goals and being completely clueless in the final third

Was Jordi Alba not keeping the width for Dembele as well?

Looking forward to your next excuse.

Pedro is overrated if anything.

22-25 goal a season in 09-10 and 10-11. Amazing work rate, scorer of important goals.

He's rated fairly IMO. He wasn't the standout player of Pep's Barca but we needed him to win as much as we did.

Pedro overrated. That's a first. What more can you do other than score in multiple Clasicos, multiple CL semifinals, CL final, and work your but off every time? He was hardest worker in our offense by far and scorer of clutch goals.

And Last season when he played on the left he came in more, because again that was the tactical setup, it's very simple my guy keep up.

The initial argument was that he doesn't cut inside now,the answer for that is very clear to anyone with a brain.

You brought up last season where he was coming inside off the left a lot more because we had a FB on that side, who allowed that to happened, much like alba is doing now with Torres.

Whether he scored 30 goals or not While doing so is irrelevant because that was not the point, if fact you hlare helping to make the point.

Given the tactical setup & instructions by his coach, he will stay wide, which is what he is doing now, which make sense, given that we have no real RB & his assist numbers are showing xavi is right for now, but you stupid hate for the guy, can't even let you give him credit for that.

Last season he came in more off the left.

#tactics.

Sure, don't think he's a bad player or something. But he was a minor system player in Pep's well oiled machine. He was clutch, he was hard working, scored some goals and was generally useful. I loved him and would be happy with another Pedro in his prime but he generally isn't a player to strive for.
