The point is that for some Spanish players, the ultimate privilege is playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona. Manchester City is a fine destination for said players but when one of the aforementioned teams come calling, it?s an easy decision. Spaniards, for the most part, enjoy their culture, climate and customs, and prefer playing in a team that everyone grew up idolizing during their childhood years. This is somewhat unique to Spanish players, as many contemporary players come from countries without great club football.

If we get this player for anything below 60m, I think it?s a fantastic deal. Generational talent + Proven at Manchester City under Pep + national team. Someone who will guarantee 15+ goals + assists per season. Speaks Spanish and connects with fellow Barcelona players. Great target. Let?s hope that we can pull this off.

I think the money-driven super young kid is a red flag. I do not have confidence in the mentality of kids who prioritize money at 19-20-21 years of age. I would consider it a very dangerous zone in the market.

The only ones dumb enough to roll with it in the future are you know who, our Qatari friends at PSG.

I don't know if you can call them dumb, plenty of our kids have left for promises of either more playing time or more money. Garcia left for City despite we wanted to keep him, right? Morey went to Dortmund. That kid who left for PSG is more of a social media star than a player.

Generational talent?

If Pep or someone else can start winning CLs back to back or pretty regularly for City then yes, perhaps a generation later some kids outside of the Manchester area and England will grow up wanting to play for them. It will take a long time.

So today there are no kids growing up in any of the Man City clubs worldwide that want to play for City? It will take a generation?

Man City franchise clubs
Manchester City.
New York City.
Melbourne City.
Yokohama F. Marinos.
Montevideo City Torque.
Girona FC.
Sichuan Jiuniu.
Mumbai City FC.

I can't say none but I think there wouldn't be many in this case. Just because their club was bought out by the CFG they all of sudden want to play for City? You think kids in Girona or Chengdu, China aspire to play for City because Girona FC and Sichuan Jiuniu FC were bought and now are affiliated with City? I highly doubt it.

That said, there are certainly City fans overseas (outside of the UK), probably because of their recent success. Not that many but they do exist.

The fact that one kid - Foden - plays for City disproves it. Very few kids supporting City in other parts of the world also disproves it.

What is even your point? Your command of English for an alleged Englishman is abysmal. Highly doubt your purported location and age.

Thank you that is all I want.

My challenge was to somebody whose post stated ‘it'll be generations before (if) kid will grow up dreaming of playing one day for them’ referring to City.

I viewed that as utter nonsense.

Outside of England, yes it will probably take a generation, within England and within the Manchester area, sure there should be plenty.

I would have some sympathy for Mateka if all of his posts here didn't include an undercurrent of English/EPL "superiority" and City "dominance".

And then when I point out that Spanish sides are 25-0 or 25-1 against English sides in finals since 2000 or whatever, he completely ignores it to instead thump his chest over Barcelona and AM's recent CL showings

This is pretty standard.
For City fans football started in 2016.

Which makes sense since City only had fans in the stands since 2016.

The rest of them watched a relegated Wigan beat club legend Yaya Toure in FA Cup final on their telly.
