Someone like Man U could probably sign Neymar for 200m and with wages on top cost them around 52m on a six year contract.

That is doable for a club their size if Ney wanted that move.

depends on when the PL TV deal gets another raise.

Bayern have almost doubled its revenue as well in the past 5 years. If this trend continues over the next 5 years, lots of clubs will break the 1 billion revenue mark.

Every club in Europe would laugh their asses off at Barca if they paid 90 million for fucking Coutinho and then excused it as "not that much". That's insane, he's not even a world class player or really near that level. Probably can't even call him a top 10 Premier League player, let alone moving from LW to a midfield position for Barca. If he's bought for RW, that's even more absurd as he's not even close to that good of a winger to warrant that price, probably not even half that price.

He is much better than you are making out and would improve Barca from his versatility alone. Not that I am even sure the club want him but 90m is not a ridiculous fee.

It's not the fee itself that's ridiculous, it's the idea of blowing that amount of cash on Coutinho when we have more pressing needs in the squad.

The fee of course is ridiculous. That kind of fee is reserved for world class players and high caliber young talent, not for above average to good type of players like Coutinho. He is worth maybe slight more than half of that fee.

Similar players to Coutinho cost in the €40-50M range this summer window alone, like Sane (€50M), Mkhytarian (€45M), mane (€41M), Draxler (€40M) a couple of which I would rate higher than Coutinho.

It would be more stupidity by this board not only to buy a player that is not needed to play a position he cannot play, but to pay such a ridiculously overpriced fee for him.

Coutinho has been better than virtually all of those players you mentioned and those players who played well would be worth more than those fees now anyway.

Those fees were paid last summer transfer window. You're saying the inflation rate has nearly doubled the transfer fees in the span of less than a year? That's crazy talk.

And no, Countinho might have some flashy goals, but he is neither consistent, nor particularly exceptionally talented in any area. He is on the same bar as these players, whether you prefer him to them is personal choice.

No I am saying those players would be worth more now if they have done well and last summer huge fees were also paid for likes of Pogba and and ageing Higuain so can pick and choose examples to fit.

And no Coutinho has been better than those players this season been arguably Liverpools best player for third reason running and up there with Neymar as Brazils best player in recent times.

Improving Barca is not that hard. You don't NEED to pay 90m to improve the team. It's high time money is stopped being seen as an easily expendable commodity in football and especially Barca. You don't buy Coutinho for 90m just because Liverpool said 90m and Barca happen to have 90m. That's ridiculous. I'd say it's almost certain that no other top club would pay 90m for Coutinho. I think it's almost inarguable to say that he's a top 10 EPL player, pretty much at the level of the players Sumlit mentioned. If anything, I easily expect Sane to end up a better player than Coutinho in the coming years. When we bought Suarez he was definitively the best player in the PL and looked perfect for Barca, Coutinho probably isn't even the best at Liverpool and he plays as a LW. He is worse in midfield and it would be useless to fixate on him for RW, I'd much rather have Bernardo Silva for a lot cheaper or if we were to break the bank down the line in that position it'd be for Dembele (who we might not even end up paying 90m for).

Coutinho has clearly been the best Liverpool player across the past few seasons. This year maybe Mane has edged it but not by much and he has also been one o Brazils best players.

He is better than the players Sumlit mentioned.

How much do you think Bernardo Silva will go for that is a 'lot' cheaper?

Whether Coutinho is what is needed now that is debatable but he is a better player than you are making out.

90m. is a bit much, but teams from PL have to ask that because of the inflation in that league. I think Coutinho is Liverpool's best player though. When at his best, he's one of the top players in the Premier League for sure.

Bernardo will sell for 70+ as well. A lot of big teams with huge budgets will go shopping in the summer. Expect prices to explode more than ever probably.
