To guarantee get him now and not wait until summer. Cant see Liverpool doing deal where he is with them until then.

Barca have him while still playing for league and cup and allows him to get settled more before next season.

Allows Iniesta more rest for the CL and other players more rest for CL.

Cant think of any reason would wait if had the choice.

Completely agree with you on this. However, don't see pool agreeing for a transfer this winter.

Think about it from Liverpool perspective. They are not guaranteed top4 in PL, they are in good position in CL and Cup competition. They need depth and they need Coutinho to have any success this season. They already bought expensive defenseman, so why not give it one last push with Coutinho? Imo. it makes zero sense for Liverpool to send Coutinho to Barca in January. They might agree on the deal, but he is coming here in July, the earliest.

That is a different side to it but it makes sense for Barca to take him now if can in my opinion.

Fuck know what he was promised by Liverpool to this point. Only way he leaves if he was promised it to focus him in first part of season.

No idea if Liverpool will let him go. The quotes from Klopp etc suggest something is in the air though.

No, they really don’t..

Any notion that liverpool need to sell after buying are total nonsense.

If you look at their finances (see Swiss ramble blog). They should have been able to afford about £80m net and £150m net in 2017... they spent about £30m net over those two years.. they have large reserves for transfers..

Less than 1% chance of getting Coutinho this window.. EPL clubs are too rich to be forced to sell.

No they really dont what?

Never mentioned anything about finances anywhere. Quite a random response or you didnt even read what was said.

As said before go make a fortune betting on Coutinho to stay if you claim to understand situation so well.

His quotes don’t suggest something is going on... it’s pure fantasy.

This ain’t happening. ... maybe in the summer, but it will take BIG money... and is it there?

No more risky than buying from anywhere else and Cesc was not bad at all.

Modric came from the Prem as well.

Coutinho has been class in europe and for Brazil as well. He just has it.

150m is fucking expensive but he may be the best attacking midfielder in the world.
Cesc was bad.
Modric suits RM. And he's a true CM who can defend.
Modric was the best midfielder by far in EPL. Can't say the same for Coutinho. You honestly believe KDB is worse than him? And do we need an attacking midfielder? I would rather have a box-to-box.

Cesc wasnt that bad but was never going to fit in fully to a team with prime Xavi and Iniesta playing a style that didnt fit him.

Coutinho has been better in the EPL across past few seasons than Modric was before he left for Real and Coutinho does defend.

Close between KDB and Coutinho and could see folk preferring either.

We are in dire need of an attacking midfielder. The only creative midfielder with significant skills is Iniesta, who is well in his years. A box-to-box midfielder? In a Barca 4-3-3? We already kind of have that in Paulinho. Not many decent b2b midfielders out there and rarely have we used one at Barca since the departure of Toure.

I would rather give to charity.

€50 to charity if he joins, you pay €50 if he stays at Liverpool and I’m wrong.. ok

Put a bet on and make lots of money and give it to charity.

You wont though.

Makes no sense for me to make that bet as I am not saying he is leaving and can get better odds at bookies anyway.

No. The priority for us is to get Dembele integrated. He will create chances for us.
In 2015 we were in big trouble, we added a box-to-box in Rakitic, we won champions.
In 2017 we were in big trouble again, we added a box-to-box in Paulinho, we are okay now.
Tiki-taka is dead. Even Pep has moved on. Box-to-box is the future.

Rakitic has never been a box to box midfielder at Sevilla to earn his move or at Barca and it was far more than that won the treble.

Need a player like Coutinho.

Pep is not stacking his midfield with box to box players at all and would love the likes of Coutinho in his team.

We are Barcelona. We have and will have best attackers in the world to form our super trident. However, you can buy best attackers but you can't buy next Xavi/Iniesta. You have the best trident but you can't control it, you lose the ball often, there got to be someone to do the dirty work. Will the best attackers in the world do the dirty work? No. So the midfielders have to do the dirty work. Therefore, they are b2b. Did you see Iniesta's clearance in our box in the game vs RM? Don has been playing b2b for us for a while now. We just refuse to accept that.
