Iniesta's job has never been to score goals. And despite this fact he has scored very important goals throughout his career.
That wasn't my point. Drogba's job as a striker was to score goals, but he offered so much more in holding up play and bringing others into the game, plus he was as big a game player as Iniesta (if not more so given he never played in the greatest club side of all time with the best player ever). Fact is though, if you strung together a list of the top strikers of all time, Drogba's name wouldn't breach that top 10, his scoring record just doesn't push him into the best of the best.
Same logic applies to Iniesta - ultimate team player, help kept the midfield running with Xavi and was always up for the big occassion, but for a man of his talent his final output is just flat out woeful. He's often drawn comparisons with Zidane, a genuine genius when the ball at his feet, and despite his inconsistencies he still managed double the goals and assists Iniesta did in about five seasons.
Together, Iniesta and Xavi are the best midfield duo ever, as individuals, Xavi's top five ever, Iniesta isn't.
