7 - Philippe Coutinho - V1

Hes exciting to watch when he feels like it but those days come by very rarely. With that being said, I would play Demeble against Madrid, he just offers more than Coutinho.

Hes in a hard situation, Valvarde doesnt view him as a midfielder and hes competing against a player who offers more than him as a LW, his only option is to leave or wait for Valvarde to leave, and if the latter happens he better hope the next cosch sees him as a midfielder or he’d have wasted his prime years in Barca.

I mean he's sort of getting better but he hasn't shown that "WOW HE DESERVES TO BE A STARTER ON THE LW" over Dembele.

Tite made excellent use of him at the world cup. When ney was at 60%, still recovering, couti playing a bit behind as an amf, excelled with his looping passes and forward runs.

It's gotta be mental. It's not like he woke up one day, out of the blue and lost both his technique & his mojo. Dude's got the skills. He just needs to get back in the groove.

i've noticed something about coutinho. it's strange to explain it but it seem like he got some steel or titanium boots on that weighing 10kg each and he always looking down on them to see if he can get them out of the ground.

it's just a massive struggle to get running with him, very heavy like on his feet. leaves ball behind.

he got some early age arthritis in the legs.

It feels at times you are just playing a more expensive and more talented Rafinha on the wings with Coutinho.

In this current setup that's what it looks like. He's not showing that "Wow" factor that makes you consider the idea of him being our permanent LW starter over the likes of Dembele.

Square peg, round hole - the majority of his time at Barcelona he has shown he is woefully inadequate. Massive waste of minutes, wages and transfer fee. Sell

He needs to step up against Madrid. A kind of hoped Dembele would miss the first game, so it could be clear that attack was up to Coutinho + Suarez + Malcom, and Coutinho couldn't hide.
With Dembele in the lineup there is a greater chance of Coutinho fading away once again, tbh. One long-shot can change his course, though, but it needs to come sooner rather than later, CL-time is coming.
