Problem with Cou is that he looks like he has some serious personal problems. I don't know what is happening with him but it looks like his head is somewhere else right now.

Absolutely useless out there. How many times does he need to play on that LW for the moron in charge to get a fucking clue?

As much as I blame Coutinho for being shit, Valverde is just as bad for playing him out of position non stop.

He needs to be taken out of the side for awhile until he gets his head together.

Sure he cost us a lot of money but the way he has been playing he looks broken and I don't think just benching him and giving sub appearances every match will fix that. He needs to be removed from the side completely until he is ready to come back.

? ?

his position is left forward and that is where he has played mostly his career.........

he has play some midfield, but not much cause his work rate/positioning/discipline is a shit.

position is the lame excuse and a last one use by fans..... if he goes to midfield and is a shit fans will cry valverde is not playing him in wing,,,, his proper positions.....

not playing player in position is playing malcom on lw, where he never plays and is always a shit,,,, not playing cou in the place he play majority his careers...

cesc fabregas was never a flop. he was just around at the time barca were at the top and had xavi and iniesta.
cesc was better for barcelona than coutinho has been so far.

you could bring cesc back from monoco and he would fit in better.

At this point there's only one thing we can do before selling. Talk to him, and try him for a run of games at AM in a midfield 3. If it doesn't work like it did with De Bruyne and Bernardo for City (sadly Valverde's very safe approach is not the best fit for an AM in a midfield 3), and he's not willing to grow into that role and work hard, sell next summer and take a 30-40m. loss at max, that's the transfer market. Win some, lose some.

At this rate I'm not sure even if that's feasible. I've always said Coutinho should get a run at AM, but the way we play we cannot afford our midfielders to be mediocre defensively which is what Coutinho unfortunately is.

De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva are two of the most hardworking midfielders in the World, especially Bernardo the way he runs all game and tracks back, makes last-ditch tackles. Crazy stamina and willpower to keep going. Pretty special considering he comes from a well-off family I believe and don't even need to play football to have a decent life. You'd think a player like that would be slightly entitled, but far from it.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

You either play him as an inside forward very close to Messi (See Levante game in the Cdr) or you play him as an AM.

Valverde is not exactly a master strategist. Exhibit A: The Roma game

He should play in the middle with busi and arthur.

At this rate we should stop being stubborn, see the reality, take the L and move on.

To those saying to play him as an AM-We can't afford an AM in our team where our front line doesn't defend. Especially for someone like Coutinho who doesn't track back and isn't known for "workhorsyness"

He would have to be prime Iniesta to make Arthur-Busquets-Coutinho work. Spoiler alarm: hes not. He just doesnt have the natural instincts of a midfielder (dont bring up brazil please). If you wanna go that attacking just fuck it and go for 3-4-3 next season ;D

Coutinho-Suarez-Dembele
Messi
Arthur - Frenkie
Busqeuts
Lenglet/Umtiti - Pique - Someone
Ter Stegen

At the moment it probably doesnt really matter where you play him though.. he looks miserable. Wont give up that fast on him, but hes a big question mark right now.

Edit: Would like to freeze him cryogenically till Messi retires... a "playmaking" winger would work much better without Messi here.

I really, really wanted to like Coutinho, but it's pretty much impossible to pretend he's anything better than awful at this point. Alena is putting in better performances than him even when played out of position. It's shameful.
