8 - Pedri

You want more penetration from Pedri, but at 18 sometimes you just got to pace yourself. Take Puig for example. He's 21 and is still penetrating none stop for 5 minutes. Anything more and Koeman doesn't trust him to have the legs.

It will come in time. He will learn when to go slow and when to speed it up, when to come thrust through with a splitting pass and when to hold back. Patience.

Are you talking about football or...

Pedri made the right move to move around the press with as little risk.

To be honest from the still shot you can see 6 Valladolid players in frame. Stegen should probably have gone long instead of trying to build from the back there. We were 5 vs 4 in there half of the pitch.

Worked out well in any case.
They were 4v4 if Ter Stegen would've hit it long. I like the short pass, and they ended up 8v7 so it was very good in the end.
Maybe Pedri tricks me a bit as well, maybe he invited the pressure in the first place, but I don't think it looks like it...

There should be no risk really in the buildup, and they should be able to be calm on the ball always, and having 3 opp in your area when the ball isn't there is perfect.
I just saw this a lot in Pedri, getting too deep, faced backwards, not ready to turn. I can see someone like Benzema being quicker towards Ter Stegen, and their RM/RW closing that space quicker or getting in quicker on Pedri...
If Ter Stegen is forced to hit it long, their pressure is a success

Best midfielder around
Still riding the hype train from early in the season. He has shown absolutely nothing for months now other than how good he is at getting outmuscled and losing the ball.

You guys are idiots, he is 18 and has been brilliant for most of the season, but has a lot to learn, games like this are normal in player development.

I thought he was a huuuuge talent after that Juve away game. But as the season has progressed that looked like a fluke. Give Moriba more of his minutes please

Barçapocalypse NOW!
Looked out of his depth, but yeah, the guy is 18 and was thrown to the lions this season... He will learn from this...

I'm not going to overreact. But I would like to see more of what Ilaix can do now that LaLiga may have got away from us.

Yeah, he needs to do more. He plays like a deep lying playmaker, only that he is more advanced. His final ball is almost inexistent at this point, his dribbling is mediocre. I'm sorry but he needs to show more.

He has time though.

He's not useless at all but yes he's not at the level most people want to believe he is right now. He shouldn't be playing against the Madrid's, PSG's etc right now, needs protecting a bit.

He was obviously flavour of the month after Juve away but expectations need to be lowered, he is far from the finished article.

Fuck knows how he stayed on as long as he did.

Was a snail defensively and just made the obvious pass each time on ball.

Him and Busquets as two of a three must be a dream for any 'athletic' teams.
