8 - Pedri

He is playing like a lower league player, in the same gear all the time. He's jogging around in a way that is close to a 60min 10km, which is a terrible pace I'd expect every poster here to manage.
He walks too little and sprints too little. This was different at the start of the season.

Another thing is he is always moving towards the ball, not using space well. He still manages to keep the ball in the team most of the time because of his great technique, but he gets the ball in bad spots and rarely is able to progress it well.

He's not "jogging around," he's actually routinely covering what is among the highest figures in covered kilometers in every game. The amount of dirty work he is doing is one of the reasons he's looking exhausted

Yet it doesn't look very useful or his decisions with the ball are mediocre at best.

Mate where were you in the beginning of the season when Pedri was playing amazingly in every game? Quick to attack a player when he is out of form. We can't drop him for the remaining cluster of the games, the whole starting 11 has to just pull through, it's the last stand.

In 90 minutes a decently fit person can run at least 20km, no problem.
It's not good for a football player to cover 20km in a game though. He runs too much and is too often out of place.

I was praising him a lot I believe. He has been mediocre or bad for along time.. Now I started saying about it.

Especially last two months been tough for him.

20km is quite a lot i think, especially if you consider that football player needs to make sprints

Puig is far worse for running about out of position than Pedri.

This is the point, he should sprint more, more sharp turns, less of following the ball in a mediocre pace.

He is moving about as a FIFA player when you press that button to follow the ball.

No player will ever cover 20km in a game, that's just 1100 metres shy of a half marathon

No good football player would.
I'd be able to do it if you asked me though, and it wouldn't look as if I was a very fast player, but the opposite.

The most distance football players put in, good or bad, is 13-14 km in a game. Keep up your pseudo-knowledge of football though

True. He lacks top speed and quickness.

I think it's more of a style thing than a physical thing. I think he would be one of the faster midfielders if you measured it, both in a 15/30m straight run or in an agility course.
He just plays that way, and my opinion is that he isn't utilizing space very intelligently either, I often want him in different positions than he is in.

I can run a half marathon in 1 hour 35 minutes (current PB anyway) but I'm not changing direction every 20-30 seconds. Running on the pitch is completely different isn't it.
