8 - Pedri

He is a baby !!

You think that Iniesta and Xavi were dominating games at this age ??

If they were given the same amount of minutes as Pedri was they would've developed earlier. The difference is almost entirely psychological, we know now Xavi's a narcissistic control freak with no shortage of confidence in his own footballing ability. BBZ probably hated Iniesta at first because he proved fearless and free intelligent harmonic play with the physique of an average person is superior to any physical superiority which all the youth fans clamor for these days, what I call the MMA effect where people are trained to seek the fastest and strongest "might makes right" dissonant application of power. Same 'motivation' of many posters here who 'enjoy' arguing with other posters however laboriously, ineffectively, and boringly. Why almost everyone here loves blue collar Gavi.

I repeat Xavi knew from day one Pedri's an intelligent nerd but he hasn't developed a warrior mentality which obviously isn't innate in him. And seeing how comfortable and anxiety free he is on the pitch shows he doesn't see any deficiency in his own mentality. Maybe winning Kopa trophy, the media calling him the next Iniesta for over a year, and Xavi obviously loving how well he follows gimp tactics, he may actually believe he's like Iniesta. Basically Pedri's a case of arrested development but I don't blame him for it.

I have a new theory about Pedri and Gavi. World class talents but Barca is holding them back. Let's examine some facts quick.

Iniesta when he was developing he was learning from deco and Xavi. The ancient one was learning from Xavi and Iniesta. A young Messi was learning from deco and ronaldinho and Iniesta.

Then uve got gavi and pedri. No one to look up to to try to assimilate aspects of the game. Surrounded by Corpses and carcasses. Worse, playing alongside players who never ever move without the ball (a habit now engraved in the DNA of barca since post pep), and only move if Messi has the ball ( and he is no more). Now the question. How can this duo learn anything? Really if u think about it. 2 midfielders with no one to pass to (bar a new Comer Lewa). What can we really expect? I truly think they are jeopardizing their huge talents playing for this rotten club. They might never develop at this rate.

These two in theory should be learning from Xavi just as Busi learnt from Pep.

Pedri needs to be more involved and develop some urgency.
There are Players like Verrati with the same physic, who are everywhere on the pitch, fighting for every ball, controlling the whole midfield and delivering killer balls.
Lot to improve for Pedri.

Mediocre. You need to forget all the lost balls, bad decisions, failed dribbles, or wasted counters tied to his game to believe he was good.

He was good for a young player some time ago, but he is dangerously approaching levels where even as a young player he is not that special anymore. Soon he will be 20, needs to improve.

He is clearly the most talented player that we have now and had a pretty solid game. I don't know what game some of the forum members are watching/smoking here.

Non existing shooting, non existing final or throw ball...

He would not be starter in any top 5 teams in the world.

He is kidd, but we can't relly on him too much.

He is not complete player, and has some serous flaws.

Needs to improve final product and decision making.

The main flaw and hardest to fix is that he is a very slow player who has issues keeping a high tempo. And all the top stuff is played at a high pace right now. You can't just be sluggish and slow the game down just because you are more comfortable in this way.
