8 - Pedri

The wide players dont suit being touchline wingers and Pedri doesnt suit being that high up.

Wider players in near Lewa and Pedri deeper suits them all better.

The issue is then any quality from wide but lesser evil and crossing from touchline now a huge thing currently in football anyway.

Pedri up beside Lewa and wide players posted on sidelines if horredous for every one of them.
True. But then if he doesn't play in that advanced role, he will never improve.

Xavi should continue to play him there. May discover something new.

When you play in the role to conduct the attack, you need more instruction
Well you need capable tactical instructions and it is safe to say Xavi is the last person to coach him well in that regard. Being a manager is very different from being a player.

The idea of a player operating in those number 10 pockets outside the box is a creative, free role where he can roam freely and recieve the ball in half spaces, turn and make something happen.

Pedri doesn't turn and make something happen. Pedri turns, gets confused and runs into traffic. Can't really play a final ball either. Best Pedri can do is play a safer pass out to the flank.

Now if you want Pedri to be coached and micromanaged then you need a tactical expert like Pep who can teach him these things. Xavi giving him instructions is only going to fuck with his head.

I think we can conclude that Pedri lacks the X Factor and magic in the final third to be a successful CAM. It's better if he plays deeper as an 8. Gundogan in his limited periods in an advanced number 10 role has already shown way more than Pedri has.

For Xavi, the best bet would be to give his players freedom in possession because in order to micromanage you need way more tactical nous and an affinity to coach progressive patterns of play.

Fair. You are right that Pedri lack of the will to make thing happen by himself. Think it is his natural. But then you can change with more time playing consistently there.

I don't think Pedri lack the X factor. He has technique, vision, passing ability. All are useful for any player playing in an advanced role. Xavi keeps trusting and playing him there. There is reason for that. What Pedri lacks is the mind of a 10.

And like jamdav mentioned above that the forward line is not mobile enough, which affects the team creative player.

Not strong enough for their first goal, waiting for the ball to come to him. Just not strong enough generally and just a general lack of intensity and desire.

Needs his first team place threatened to give him a kick up the ass. Drop him for Fermin for 3 games.

If a big player needs to be sold, let that not be Gavi, Araujo or Frenkie. Let it be him.
