He's worse than he's ever been in my opinion. Whether it's lack of momentum through injuries, unclear on his role or whatever but the idea of the player is far better than reality currently.
He's still very young and it can be turned around though but current version of him is just a passenger.
Its worth mentioning that for what has allegedly been 2 years of physical work he's not any stronger or faster than when he started really and might actually be physically worse.
Was it just posing for the aesthetic like teenagers do and he wasn't actually working? Or was he not coordinating his work with a specialist or something? Who knows, but something definitely went wrong there. He looks slow and just as scrawny as when he started.
I don't think any serious thought went into that "physical program" and indeed around the time he started it he started also to pick up serious injury problems. It's possible that part of the issue lies there and that he may be hurting himself more by doing an ill-coordinated physical routine.
Especially when these high-level footballers play at the highest intensity levels several times a week you have to ensure any off field physical activity is carefully coordinated in line with that, because there's only so much your body can take and everyone has different optimal physical levels. Done the right way a young guy like him really should see progress if he wants to, if even just functionally with better stamina, speed, strength, but it doesn't seem anything has been gained at all.
